LC CS UNC GESEE | YORE wa NSE YR alee "A Family Tradition for 128 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, May 2, 1995 - 9 LE TTE | =¢ S from our readers New league should be content with set-up To the Editor: Over the past months we have read ALL the arti- cles concerning the base- ball feud between Cart- wright Minor Ball and Nestleton Hardball. We have held our com- ments as we have not at- tended any of the meet- ings concerning all the problems - but last week's article has made us want to respond to the issue of diamond time. One of the articles last week read that Nestleton Hard Ball complained thatthe CMB and the Nes- tleton Hall Board had allo- cated diamond times for Doctors don't cause pain; but the From Page 7 but the NDP does. You proved this with the Social Contract, which is nothing more than just another way for Bob Rae to use someone else's money for his own benefit. Many people were seri- ously affected by this con- tract. People with mort- gages got far behind and their league only on Fri- day nights on weekends. We attended the yearly diamond scheduling meet- ing for the Nestleton Park in early April. This meet- ing was chaired by the Nestleton Park Board. As members of the Nes- tleton Mustangs Ladies Team, we have played at this park for many years. The meeting is always well run and fairly rou- tine. We would say CMB was there in the same capacity as ourselves as were many - other teams. We all want- ed diamond time. Times are not assigned at this it affected many other people's finances in other ways. Your policies all seem to be the same: spend money and raise taxes, like everyone has an end- less pot full of money. Your party has done little or nothing for this province. They are taken first by existing leagues and individual teams, with the remainder left for newcomers. When it came down to Nestleton Hard Ball's choice, Friday nights were available. They reluctant- ly took this. After some discussion we, as reps from our team decided to offer them our nine away times. Still un- happy, they said they would take this issue to council. In talking with CMB, we were told that their numbers are only down by one team. If this is a fact, it you have ruined the health care system and have made a complete mess of the dump situa- tion. When does socialism take priority over democ- racy, when politicians can trample onto someone's property whenever they please, and claiming it to be a potential dumpsite, and ignoring the person's right to protect his or her property? Why has council been drawn into this problem? Why are our taxes being used on an issue that should never have been? Before you form a new ball league, your responsibili- ty is to make sure you have a place to play, or be pre- pared to take what you're given. Sincerely, Patti Alpe, Wilma Wotten, Blackstock.
