"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" Summer job hunting made easy By David Stell Port Perry Star Young people search- ing for summer employ- ment in Port Perry will have an extra edge thanks to a new service being offered by the Canada Employment Center for students. Colin Hadden will be available Thursdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Agricultural Employment Services office at 126 Water street in Port Perry. As a student employ- ment officer he will be helping students in a variety of ways: 0 One on one sessions with students looking for summer employment will offer job searching skills, how to prepare for inter- views and much more. Q A special change to the Job Bank computer, located at the AES office, will be a new category that lists opportunities specifically for student employment in Durham Region. Colin says it will now be easier for students to find employment list- ings aimed at them. a Colin has also started a bulletin board with job listings in the Scugog area. He has contacted a number of businesses in the area to ask if they have openings and to let them know about the employment center for students. Karate event for diabetes Many of North Ameri- ca's top Karate, Kung Fu and Tae Kwon-Do fighters will be competing at this. year's KFD Nationals Open Martial Arts Tour- nament, which aims to raise funds for research into a cure for diabetes. The tournament will be held on Sunday, May 28 at the Pickering Recreation Complex, 1867 Valley Farm Road South, Picker- ing.
