Behind the excellent pitching of Dave Eschli Aurora took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth in- ning and looked capable of upsetting the Gamblers who had been unable to advance a runner past sec- ond base and had collected only two meager hits dur- ing five innings. Aurora only had a total of four hits off the Green- bank pitching duo of Mark Goreski and Byron Bara- nieski but they had collect- ed two of their hits in the third inning and scored a run on an infield putout. But in the bottom of the sixth inning the Green- bank bats came to life with Chris Burkholder leading the inning off with a single to right field and came around to score the tieing run on Greg Newell's hit. Don Beaton drew a walk and Paul Goreski prompt- ly whacked a triple off the centre field fence to score a pair of Gambler runs and their fourth counter came across the plate on Mark Goreski's double. In the top of the seventh Mark Goreski set Aurora down in order and Green- bank had a 4-1 win and a 5-0 record in league play this year. Peter Oosterholt saw his first action of the sea- son and the slick fielding shortstop chipped in with a base hit in his three at bats. This week the Gamblers travel to Markham on Monday and host the Oshawa Juniors at 8 p.m. on Thursday at Greens bank. SPORTS REPORTS will continue in iw The Weekend Star
