That's what voters did in showing overwhelming support for MPP elect John O'Toole, who took an easy win and cele- brated a convincing victory in last Thursday's election. He racked up almost two votes for each NDP and Liberal ballot counted June 8. N.D.P. LIBERAL and northern portions of Oshawa and Whitby, all the way to Port Perry, turned out to give Mr. O'Toole the nod to lead them for the next five years. The Conservative victory was one of many for the party across the province. The celebration started shortly after 9 p.m. at the Flying Dutchman Motel in Bowmanville when vote totals being called in from across the riding continued to hold the GM supervisor in first place at each polling station. Supporters were coloring each poll blue on a map of the riding for each time Mr. O'Toole won a poll. By the end of the night it was a Tory blue riding for Mr. O'Toole and the Progressive Conservatives. Conservative supporters cheered and enjoyed their win while watching their best hopes come true on television with Toronto's City TV coverage reporting the Tory sweep in Durham and the overwhelming fact that 82 Conservative can- didates will be making the charge to Queen's Park with Premier-elect Mike Harris leading the way. Supporters on hand were ecstatic when Mr. O'Toole final- ly joined the celebration. Boy airlifted after bike crash A local boy was airlifted to hospital in Toronto Sunday after being thrown from his dirt bike, Durham Regional Police have reported. Police said Monday morning neighbors found 13-year-old Steven Wygerde lying by his bike in a field near his home on Nestleton Rd., north of the hamlet. The bike had apparently flipped a number of times. The boy, who is believed to have suffered an Toronto. injury to his neck, was conscious but in a great deal of pain when neighbors found him around 4:30 Sunday, police said.
