Teddy Bear picnic Sunday at Museum Scugog Island by ~ Hope everyone man- aged our heat wave and that all fathers enjoyed their day on June 18. Congratulations to Sta- cey and Ron Albert on the birth of their son, Tyler Ronald James, born on Fa- ther's Day, June 18. Tyler weighed 7 lbs. 4 oz. Proud grandparents are Jim and Norma Tower. On June 8 Eliza Fralick was priviliged to attend " the Convocation Ceremo- nies of the University of Western Ontario at which her granddaughter, Laura Marie DiPaolo, was con- ferred the degree of Bache- lor of Science, Honors in Ecology and Evolution. Scugog Island Women's Institute The Women's Institute will be sponsoring a Bake Sale on Friday, June 30 from 4 p.m. on Redman's lawn on Island Road. Scugog Shores Mu- seum There will be a Teddy Bears' Picnic and Straw- berry Social on Sunday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Scugog Shores Museum. Children are in- vited to bring their teddy bears for a day of fun, games, crafts, face paint- ing, puppet show, story telling, Dr. Puckrin's Ted- dy Bear Clinic. There will also be demonstrations of the Blacksmith, rope mak- ing, and Historical Inter- preters. Visitors may also enjoy a strawberry lunch and social. A Lunch Spe- cial of Victorian tea sand- wiches, iced tea and a va- riety of strawberry desserts will be served in the Head Memorial Church from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Scugog Island United Church Our church was filled to capacity on a very warm Father's Day to celebrate the baptism of Cole Nico- las Luchka and Michael Willliam Stowell-Smith. Cole is the son of Danny and Robin Luchka and Mi- chael is the son of Ken and Brandy Stowell-Smith. Our congregation wel- comed Cole and Michael with love and may God's blessings be upon both families. To help celebrate Father's Day the Junior Choir sang, "They'll know we are Christians by our Love" and the Women's Central Scven Association for Community Living YOU'RE INVITED Chorus sang, "Our Dad" and "Near to the of Thee." Activities at the church will soon be winding down, but the Lectionary Bible Study will continue to meet on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. The Choir will meet on Thursday, June 22 at 7 p.m. The Junior Choir will meet for the last time be- fore summer on Friday, June 23 at 4:30 p.m. They will also enjoy supper to- gether! Hope all Junior Choir members can make it! Award Sunday will be held on Sunday, June 25 at 9:45 a.m. This service will be a celebration for all ages of our Christian Edu- cation. The theme for the service will be, "Making God's World a Better Place". Groups involved will be the Sunday School, Youth Group, High School Supper Club, Moms & Tots, Junior Choir and Nursery. Everyone is in- vited to enjoy refresh- ments and fellowship fol- lowing the service. Plans for the Strawber- ry Supper to be held on Sunday, July 9 are well under way. The supper in- cludes ham, potato, cab- bage and jellied salads and a variety of cakes and strawberries and whipped cream. Sittings are at 5 p.m. and 6:16 p.m. Book your ticket with Bonnie at 985-7426. This supper is sponsored by the Ste- wards but is the responsi- bility of the congregation. After experiencing the "warm" service on Sun- day, everyone is looking forward to our Outdoor Services during the months of July and Ap- gust at our regular time of 9:46 a.m. Come out and enjoy this new type of wor- ship. Plane ride auction The Scugog Chamber of Commerce is offering a chance to fly over Scugog in a Harboured IV Mark aircraft this Canada Day. In keeping with the July 1 festivities the Chamber will auction off the flight this Friday between 7- 9p.m. at the: Chamber of- fice at 221 Queen Street. The highest bidder must be able to arrive at p.m. on Canada Day for a flight over town at aproxi- mately 8:15 p.m. All proceeds from the auction will go back into the cost for the Canada Day celebrations. Anyone interested in bidding can drop into the Chamber officer on Friday or call 985-7671 to make a id.
