"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, June 20, 1995 - B7 Doris Werry thrived on family, friends At Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, February 14, 19956 Doris Werry passed away after a short illness. She was in her 92nd year. Doris was born August 11, 1903 in Webbwood, Ontario, daughter of Stan- ley and Emma (nee Ayles- worth) Chant. In 1918 the Chant fami- ly moved to southern On- Obituaries tario settling on the "Washington" farm in the Zion community. On December 25, 1923 she married Reford (Dick) Cameron. They raised three daughters and resid- ed on the Cameron farm on Zion Rd. until 1955 when they moved to Bow- manville, Ont. Following Reford's death in 1966 Doris mar- Laura Belle Lee, 89 Laura Belle Lee passed away on Thursday, May 18,1995 at age 89. Laura was the daughter of the late William and An- nie Thomas. She married Frank Lee on December 18, 1929, and was prede- ceased by her husband on August 8,1992. Laura was alifelongres- ident of the Greenbank community and keenly in- terested in the families of this area. She was a mem- ber of Greenbank United Church. She was predeceased by one grandson Gary and her brothers Russell and Hen- ry Thomas. A funeral service was held on Monday, May 22 at the Wagg Funeral Home, with the Rev. Da- vid Shepherd officiating. Interment was at Bethel Cemetery, Greenbank. Pallbearers were Brian Lee, Mark Roundell, Mark Lee, Howard Lee, David Ball and Rod Foster. ried Francis Werry, Janu- ary 24, 1970. They resided in Enniskillen, Ont. until Francis passed away in 1980 and Doris moved to an apartment in Bowman- ville. Her life was centered on her family, children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren. She liked her hands to be busy, so spent many hours knit- ting and crocheting. Socks and afghans were special- ties and garments for each new baby. Doris had a marvelous mind and memory. She could re- member birth dates and marriage dates and years of special occasions, and many friends and rela- tives relied on her special gift of recall. Doris was one of a fami- ly of 10 children. Surviv- ing are brothers George and Allen and sisters Stanley and Miriam. Pre- deceased by brothers Douglas, Joe, Chris and sister Beulah, and recent- ly deceased brother Ted. Doris sadly was prede- ceased by her daughter Kathleen Joy Hoskin, April 18, 1994.
