In the Under seven divi- sion an exciting match Pony Club members take part in Tetrathion On June 17 and 18 four local Durham Pony Club girls took part in the Cen- tral Ontario Region Tet- rathlon. Tetrathalon is a compe- tition in four parts: run- ning, riding, shooting and swimming. Swimming is scored by the number of metres ob- tained in a set time limit. Shooting is scored by the highest number of shots on target. The running portion is a cross country course that must be com- pleted in the shortest time possible and the riding is scored like the cross coun- try phase of eventing with penalty points for refu- sals, falls or going over the optimum time allowed. The swimming and shooting were held in Ajax and the running and rid- ing had a change of venue and were held at the excel- lent facility provided by Dreamcrest Equestrian Centre. Despite the incredible heat, all the girls had a fine showing. In the Senior Girls divi- sion Laura Timms had a first in swimming, a sixth in running and a second in riding to place third over- all. In the Junior Girls divi- sion Dawn Dawson was eighth in swimming and third in shooting. Andrea Smith, also in Junior, had a first in swimming, a fifth - in shooting, a seventh in riding and a second in run- ning to finish first overall. Perhaps the most excit- ing match in the Under 11 division was the game be- tween the previously un- defeated Legal Eagles and the high-scoring Brian's Towing. It was a very tight game which remained a scoreless tie until late in the second half, thanks to sensational stops by Aa- ron Gutteridge in goal. Brian's finally opened the scoring with a goal by Stormy Wooton, but the Legal Eagles came right back when Scott Honey scored, assisted by Derek Goreski.
