Saturday during the parade that was one of the highlights fora of the Epsom and Utica Jamboree. The weather was great 'parade, and folks lined the route to watch the event. Well, it was a wonderful weekend, excellent weather and a lot of fun and entertainment for those who took in any of the Jamboree festivities. The Beef Supper and Strawberry Social was a sell-out and unfortunate- ly many were turned away. The dance that followed was not well attended, but I understand that those who did had a good time. The Yard Sale was to start at 7:30 a.m. but I'm told that cus- tomers were there at 6:30. Well, you know what they say, "The early bird gets the worm". The noon barbecue was much appre- ciated. The Parade under the direc- tion of Arnold Kerry, was I'm | told, the bestever. J The afternoon was busy with Don Asling keeping busy in the old Epsom School visiting with' people and remembering the good old days and showing pic- tures, etc. Barry Page and family led the sporting events which in- cluded games, contests, races, horseshoe pitching to name a few with children and adults participating. Doreen Kendall's face painting was a big hit with the children. The evening Potluck Supper was well attended and everyone enjoyed the variety of dishes (we. have the best cooks in the area) . "which was topped off with strawberries and cake, ice cream or whipped cream. The evening entertainment was MC'd by Barbara Evans and thanks to the following who took part. Piano solos by Christina and Lisa Marie Cote, Rebecca Sobil, Virginia Wilson and Ash- ley Slack. Readings by Barbara Utica Epsom Evans, "Grandma" and "A Day off Work"; "Portrait of a Farm- er" by Gail Kerry. Skits by Bill McKay and Elizabeth Taylor en- titled "John and Mary "and Rob Ashton and Beth Wilson enti- tled, "The License Bureau". The Highland dancing by Port Perry High School student Jennifer Blackburn was a big hit as were the dance numbers by the Outback Cloggers under the direction of Dr. Paul Puck- rin. Mother Jane and daughter Rebecca Sobil sang a duet. On stage was The Chubb's (Darlene Christie and Faye Ashton's) duet. The program also included auctioneer Gail Kerry (Do you suppose she missed her calling). Thank you and O Canada ended the evening.
