Nina Luchka, 21, of Scugog Island, has been selected as one of 20 finalists in the much-anticipated -- and debated - - event on Canada Day. Nina said last week that while she's entered upwards of 20 contests in the past couple of years, often winning or placing among the top three, she was reluctant top try out for the high-profile event, sponsored annually by the owner of CHIN radio at his annual picnic. But she knows Karen Wry, last year's winner. Nina said Ms Wry convinced her to try out for one of the finalist gpots... so she did.
