ITC 1s non profit and trains its members to be profi: cient in public speaking and other communication skills. The charter was presented at a special ceremony at the Stables at Greystone Restaurant on Saturday, June 17. ITC members from across Ontario were on hand to share in the celebration. Special guests included Joyce Kelly, Deputy Mayor of Scugog Township, who brought greetings and good wishes from Scugog Council. The charter executive of the new Port Perry Club is: Marg Morris, Charter President, Nelly Tiessen, 1st Vice President, Mavis Brodie, 2nd Vice President, Jill Roncetti, Secretary and Helen Campbell, Treasurer. The Port Perry Club meets monthly at the Borelia Co-Op and has 11 charter members. Members learn by doing and practice parliamentary procedure, im- promptu speaking, a variety of presentation-tech- niques and leadership skills. Trying to beat the heat? Birdseye outdoor pool opened Friday, June 30. Aquatic lessons are avail- able starting six months and up, and lifeguard staff are ready to teach you everything you need to know about swimming. Private lessons are also available. Public swim hours have been expanded this sum- mer. They run Monday to Sunday from 1 p.m. to § p-m. In addition new eve- ning swim hours have been added. The pool will be open Monday, Wednes- day and Fridays 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Adult leisure and aqua- fitness are offered on Tuesday evenings. A new kids activity night will run Thursdays in July from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. For com- plete information, call Birdseye Pool at 985-4952. The Recreational Camp has been upgraded to offer new camps, more activi- ties, and a greater empha- sis on skill instruction. New programs in 1995 in- clude the Pioneer Adven- ture Camp, run in con- junction with the Scugog Shores Museum, and "Walk on the Wild Side" Camp that will focus on outdoor skills with soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and field, baseball and ball hockey. Kids will also get a chance to try horseback riding, golf, ten- nis and rollerblading. Creative Arts Camp of- fers availability of activi- ties including: drama, dance, arts and crafts, photography, and more. ~ Camps will run throughout July and Au- gust and are available in one or two week sessions. An environmental youth corps (EYC) has been established this sum- mer to work on parkland naturalization. This pro- Ject team will be concen- trating their efforts on caring for and maintain- ing the naturalized park areas within the Town- ship. And the public are invit- ed to attend the Sunday evening Concert Series in July and August. Each week will feature a differ- ent performance.
