That's when the Port Perry Lions club holds its annual demolition derby, just one of the numerous attractions in the area July 15 when Festival Days are in full swing. This is the ninth years the Lions have held their annual derby, a fundraiser for Lions community projects. The derby gets underway at 5:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds, and all indi- cations so far point to another successful event, said club "It looks like it will be as good as ever, weather permitting." Price of Scugog fatalities 31% of total Region study cites dangerous roads here By Kelly Lown Port Perry Star Accidents in Scugog Township accounted for an alarming 31 per cent of all highway fatalities in the region last year; a recently-released report says. According to the annual statistics compiled by Durham Region, 16 fatal car accidents took place in Durham Region in 1994, five of them in Scugog. Two of the fatalities occured in Caesarea, two on Simcoe Street and one on the Island ve Road. The stretch of the Island Road between Pine Point and Stephenson Point is listed as having the sixth highest colli- sion rate in the region, with seven accidents recorded last year. Simcoe Street between Concessions 11 and 12 also had a significant number of colli- sions, with five on the books. Of the 16 fatalities in the region, 13 were on regional " roads, and 10 of the victims were the drivers of the vehicle.
