His vehicle crossed the centre line into the path of a northbound 1994 Toyota, driven by Matthew Lav, 33, of Mississauga. Six hurt in Hwy. 12 crash Saturday Driver swerves to miss dog, hits oncoming vehicle Simcoe St. closed by crash A Janetville man was hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision that stalled traffic on Simcoe St. south of Port Perry last Wednesday morning (June 8). Durham Regional Police said a 1984 Pontiac Sunbird being driven by 58- year-old Cyril Gardiner of Janetville was southbound on Simcoe St. around 8 a.m. when it crossed the centre line near the railway trestle just north of Raglan and crashed head-on into a northbound truck. The force of the collision demolished the Sunbird, which came to a rest in the middle of the roadway. Police esti- mate it sustained $5,000 worth of dam- age. The 1987 GMC truck, driven by 22- year-old Darrell Moffatt of Oshawa, had its front end extensively damaged in the collision. the driver received minor injuries, but did not require hospitalization. Mr. Gardiner was taken to Oshawa General Hospital with undisclosed injuries. At last report he was listed in stable condition. The cause of the accident was still under investigation by police late last week. North and southbound rush hour traffic was delayed for some time while police conducted an investigation at the scene. Both vehicles were towed away.
