Susie was second in the pilot race, 40-yard race, slalom race and the team relay competition. The International Sports Jamboree, held July 14-16 at North Bend State Park, is a recreation event for disabled youths. This year 39 participants from across the United States and Canada took partin theevent. The Jamboree 1s a unique demonstration of recreation for visually im- paired youths and those in wheelchairs who are be- tween the ages of 12 and 20. It is sponsored by the Bell Atlantic West Virgin- ia Chapter of the Tele- phone Pioneers. Susie was sponsored locally by the Scarborough chapter of the Telephone Pioneers. The events are specially designed to allow the com- petitors to take part. There are six events for the visually impaired ranging from bicycle rd- ing to softball. Those com- petitors in wheelchairs took part in slaloms, 40- yard races, basketball and target shootingevents. In two other events the visually impaired and physically challenged youths combined for a re- lay race. Pioneer organizations in 26 other locations in the United States and Cana- da have developed recrea- tional events and facilities based on the North Bend, West Virginia Jamboree. That By-Law Number 32-88 be further amended by adding thereto under Section 9, Parking Offences, a new subsection 9.6 entitled "Parking Commercial Vehicles" which shall read as follows: "9.6 No person shall park a commercial motor vehicle which exceed 2.5 metres in width or 6.5 metres in length or having vehicle weight in excess of 4500 kilograms on any highway, except in an industrial area, unless such a vehicle is actually engaged in the loading or unloading of goods, wares, merchandise or passengers to adjacent premises." 3. That the provisions of this By-Law excepting those regulating stopping, parking and standing shall come into full force and effect on the date itis passed by the Council of the Township of Scugog and the Regional Municipality of Durham and where applicable, where signs are erected. Farm equipment stolen Farm implements and a trailer valued at almost $3,000 were stolen from a Greenbank-area home last week. Durham Regional Police said a cultivator and a three-furrow plow were left overnight on a trailer in front of a home of Hwy. 47 July 23, as they were for sale. | It appears thieves pushed the trailer down the road and then made off with it, police said.
