Nestleton Hardball League action July 14 Causeway Cougars 15 Aldon Transmission 0 Strong defence by Cou- gar infield and fielders helped strong pitching performances by Cougar mound staff to hold Aldon (one of the strongest Port teams) scoreless. But the game was made on the bases with two stolen bas- esby Aldon to one base sto- len by Cougar sprinters. Taylor and Rogalski drove singles for Aldon. Wolters, John, Johnston had singles for Cougars while Cockrell and De- rynck went for two singles each and Woods and new- ly-elected team captain Wonnacott each hit three singles, capped by Jessie Vitiek's run-pushing dou- ble. A special mention to Matt Cockrell (the Janet- ville Bullet) who is playing up from Mosquito level and making the stat sheets on the plus side every outing. This team is pulling together and it shows, guys. July 27 Game One CYC Panthers 4 Port Perry IGA 1 Good pitching from IGA kept the Panthers to only four runs in the first game of this double header. Ja- mie Grey, John Chraypek and Kyle McClurg (visit- ing up for this game) all grabbed singles, while Wyatt Morrison hit for two singles and Darryl McClurg hit for a single and a beautifully hit triple for two RBIs. Panthers pitchers struck out six allowing only one base on balls. The Panthers are progressing nicely. Game Two CYC Panthers 7 Port Perry IGA 0 Panthers pitching staff led by MacKenzie Bell and Dave Young shut down IGA hitters allowing six hits but no scores thanks Turnto Page 23 Grumbles defeat Cartwright Express in hardball action Grumbles vs Cartwright Express Grumbles took this one 8-4. Grumbles played a tight defensive game and cashed in on a total of nine walks handed out by Express pitchers, while playing with only eight players and only two fielders. Davidson singled twice, Dunn with a double, Mac- Sween, Diceman and Tripp all with a single each. Grumbles pulled oft a total of four great pickoftfs on at- tempted steals. The bats were hot for Express, but were no match for Grumbles' defence. Bickmore, Knight and Lowe with doubles, Michel, Wonnacott, Wade, Ford and Stitchman all with a single each. Note: All teams have elected their player represen- tatives. They are as follows: Brian Wonnacott, Pee- wee; Wyatt Morrison, Bantam; Jeff Vernon, Midget; Will Michel, Midget. These players represent their teams at any or all Steering Committee meetings and General Meetings, for participation and input. . Our second General Meeting was held Sunday, July 30 at the Nestleton Hall. Ideas for awards were discussed together with preferences for a season-end get-together. The player reps will poll their teams and get back to the Steering Committee a.s.a.p. A bare-bones draft constitution was presented for discussion and approval. It received unanimous ac- ceptance. In order to obtain the legal registrations necessary for a non-profit organization to fundraise, a constitution is required. Please keep in mind that this is a "bare bones" constitution and addendums and amendments to it can be made at general meetings. Sorry, guys! The Public School diamond is still not ready for you to play on yet. If we can find enough bod- ies and an acceptable day for everyone, we might be able to complete it ourselves. We would do it the same as we did Blackstock Fairgrounds diamond. It you are going to be around the next couple of weeks, and could help out, please call Mary at 986-0508.
