It worked, as a blooper fly ball was dropped and Burlington scored in the bottom of the seventh, breaking a 1-1 tie. There was plenty of great fastball action throughout the weekend when provincial fastball championships were held on the north diamond on Water St. in Port Perry. 5.6 T-Ball results Aug. 1 brought heat, hu- midity and holiday time to the game between McTague's Mighty Mete- ors and Homestead Furni- ture. Though both teams were short on numbers, they were very long on en- thusiasm. The top of the first had the Meteors up to bat with a solid lead off hit by Mere- dith Gray. Stephen Bond made a good play and throw to first for Home- stead. McTague's Josh Kingston hit to the out- field to advance all run- ners. Jason Saliani pro- duced a strong hit to score Meredith, followed by a clean-up home run by Nathen Bowes, scoring Melissa Reinhardt, Josh Kingston and Jason Salia- ni. Scugog soccer results UNDER SIX Jackman Co-Ordinators vs. Can- terbury Commoners Great goaltending by David Brouwer and Kyle Newbold resulted in a shutout for Jackman. Ian McIntosh and Jason Rankin played well while Alyssia Boomhour scored two goals to secure the win for Jackman. The final score was 2-0. UNDER SEVEN Smitty's vs. Classic Aluminum Classic defeated Smitty's with a score of 7-2 last week. Scoring for Classic were Michael Cooke with one, Shayne Taylor with four, and Troy Wagg with two. Brent Henry and Roman Vannet- ten each scored one for Smitty's. UNDER NINE Village Decor vs. Nuts about Choc- olate The shorthanded team of Nuts About Chocolate played extremely well but lost by a score of 3-2. Michael Jehu scored the hat trick for Village Decor and Matthew Miller and David Stewart each scored once for Nuts About Choco- late. Adam Hale played well on defence for Nuts About Chocolate. Dairy Delight vs. Raglan Welding Raglan showed their best effort of the season when they played Dairy Delight. Marie Gedge scored once, Adam Farn- ley added two and David Michel put in three. Fine goaltending from Dairy De- light's Tim Gibson in the first half. The final score was 6-0. Port Perry Metals vs. Raglan Weld- ing Joshiah Atkins made his debut in net with some key saves in the first half and Peter Dutka played strong forward and had some good scoring chances for Rag- lan but Andrew Pegg and Matthew Rob- inson each scored a pair for Port Perry Metals to defeat Raglan 4-0. The dy- namic defending duo of Bryan Howarth and Jillian Vaughan helped Hayden Fish with his shutout. Katie Munden showcased her terrific moves for Port Perry Metals. VanCamp & Kellar vs. Bank of Mon- treal The Bankers tried extremely hard but they were defeated 3-2. Goals went to Johnathon Hamelinck and Steven Etherington for the Bank of Montreal and Justin Jimmo, Mark Melas, and Scott Partington scored for VanCamp and Kellar. Great defensive efforts from Ashley Radcliffe and Elizabeth Rein- hart for the Bankers and Lindsey Volpe, Stewart Medford and Fiona Bar-. rass all played well for VanCamp and Kellar. : Roger's Automotive vs. Scugog Rentals Russell Tracey's hat trick helped Scu- gog Rentals to beat Roger's Automotive by a score of 5-1. Britini Smith scored the other two goals for Scugog Rentals. Sherri Currie and Jordanne Bursey played strong games on the wings while Adam Thompson and Kyle Jones did a great job sharing the goaltending du- ties. Alexandra Moffatt had a great game and scored the lone goal for Rog- er's. Willham Dallas had some terrific kicks and Cindy Howard played well on defence for Roger's. Antrim House vs. Port Perry Craft . and Gift Show It was a close game, but Port Perry Craft and Gift Show came away with a 2-1 win. Matt Charron and Chris Char- ron scored for Port Perry Craft and Gift Show and Chris Boomhour scored for Antrim House. Bronwyn Renison kept Craft and Gift Show in the game with some great saves in goal, the second half. Manvers vs. Burketon Matt Morrison and Adam Phillipe each scored twice to give Burketon the 4-2 win. Casey Sibley scored the two goals for Manvers. : M & M vs. Willowtree The final score of this well played game was 1-1. Jordan Beelby and Meg- an Smith shared the goaltending duties while Josh Sobil and Evan Powell played well on defense for Willowtree. Alex McKay scored the goal for Willow- tree and Justin Shinn scored for M & M. Darlene Colton Photography vs. Burketon Burketon was able to beat Darlene Colton with a score of 7-2 last week. The scorers for Burketon were Laura Potti- er (two), Adam Phillipe (two), Greg Vanderleyden (one), Danny Morrison (one), and Matt Jefferies (one). Billy Britt and Ken Britt scored for Darlene Colton. Nature's Bounty vs. Burketon Matt Morrison (one), Greg Vanley- den (two), Adam Phillipe (one), and Phil Cudahey (one), all scored to beat Na- ture's Bounty 5-0. UNDERI13 Waterfront Cafe vs. Uxbridge 4 Waterfront Cafe lost a hard fought game against the unbeaten Uxbridge 4 team but great defence by Matthew Robertson, Matt Smart and Josh Kirk kept the score low. Mark Duncan, Der- ek Fishley and Chris Gloster all helped Ryan Kelly score Waterfronts' only goal. The final score was 5-1. Port Perry anglers in the money at Barrie bass open Hector Peach and Peter Davidson of Port Perry fin- ished in the money this weekend at the GM/ Mariner Pro Bass Barrie Open on Lakes Simcoe and Couchiching. Peach and Davidson placed fourth on Saturday with 17.50 pounds of bass. The 1-day tourney was won by Shayne Jackson of Scarborough and John Metherel of Orillia with 24.95 pounds. At the Sun- day event, the Port Perry anglers came 12th with 14.85 pounds. John Rus- sell of Aurora and Dan Fontanna of Gormley won with 24.65 pounds. John MacDonald of Pe- terborough and partner Dave Johnson of Keswick finished third August 6 with a final weight of 18.90 pounds, and Bob Gardner and Lynn John- ston of Peterborough placed eighth on Saturday with 16.00 pounds. All of the fish caught this weekend were re- turned to Simcoe and Cou- chiching by the Shimano Live Release boat. The Kawarthas will host the next GM/Mariner Pro Bass tournament: the Bewdley Open on Rice Lake, August 19/20.
