Tyke Tourney Hammer Heads 16 Philp Firebirds 2 Strong pitching by Patrick Wotten and Corey Hellingman led Wottens to the victory. Ja- mie Lee Martin also played a strong defensive game for Wot- tens getting a put out at first base. Matthew Morrison had the big hit, and three RBI triple. Steven Larmer was the game star for Philps as he made an unassisted double play at sec- ond base as well as providing some strong pitching. Philps seemed to forget their bats at home and only collected three hits. They were by James Hobbs, Marc Drisdelle and Ste- ven Larmer. Agri-Vaders 5 Baker Auto Road Runners 3 This game was decided in the bottom of the last inning as the Vaders overcame a one run defi- cit and scored three times to beat a very short staffed Road- runner team. Joel Michel and Greg Banks combined for a no hitter for the winners while Michel helped the run total with a home run and a triple. Michael Van Camp also had a single for the Spring Grove team. Defensively Jake Jones and Brian Jensen pitched well for the Roadrunners while call-up Caitlyn Hellingman helped im- mensely in her first Tyke game. Antrim House 14 Manns14 Two home runs by Andrew Hudson and one by Krystin Bronson led Manns to the top with Antrim. Stephanie Kings- well preserved the tie for the House as she pitched a scoreless last inning. Offensively she also had a triple as did Josh Fergu- son. Other Antrim hits came from Amanda Cowe and Ste- phen Defore. The Cornhuskers were led by the pitching of Krystin Bronson and Chris Goble while Lindsay Sweetman had a triple and Kry- stan a double. Martyns Swain Seeds The win by Martyns enabled them to meet Manns in a season ending showdown to determine Squirt bragging rights. Martyns were led by the home run by Mike Sonne and the heads up base running of Vicky Ellis. Swains self destructed issu- ing 18 walks. Their highlight was a double play turned by Krystal Bartley and Chelsea Mateo. Martyns used call-up Bran- don Hoskin who played well and fit into the higher division nicely. Senior Campbells 23 Don Frew 9 Home runs by Sean Warren, Cameron Vernest and Chad Hobbs powered Campbells to another victory. Defensively for Frews, Shan- non Gobkels and Colin Manns had strong games. Frew would also like to thank Squirt call- ups Stephanie Kingswell and Josh Ferguson for completing their roster. Reedsonic Security 20 Asselstine's Yamaha 2 The Mosquito team contin- ued to struggle and resembled the Bad News Bears as they lost their second game played against Reedsonic. Over throws and misfielding plays proved costly. Kyle Mullins and Johna- than Wotten scored the two runs by stealing home. Craig Asselstine continuesto improve his fielding which weighs well with coaches Stapley and Mul- lins. Permanent Pools 5 Asselstines 4 The Cartwright team showed up to play and lost a squeaker 5- 4. Johnathan Wotten had five strikeouts in his maximum three innings pitched while Alex De Jong continues to per- form well with the tools of catch- ing. Adam Stapley forced an out at second with a strong throw while Robert Larmer had four putouts in his debut at first base. Coach Reminders 1. In case you haven't guessed what I'm excited about it is the coming of another Ringette season. This winter sport is an alternative to other activi- ties played on ice. It's a girls team sport filled with excitement, enthusiasm and fun, not just for the players, but for the whole family. We invite and welcome all girls be- tween the age of 5 - 16 to come out and join in the fun that many girls on the teams from Port Perry, Prince Albert, Mount Albert, Uxbridge, Blackstock and Seagrave are already having. Registration for the 95-96 season is set for the weekend of August 25,26,27 at the Scugog Arena. (Watch for times in the near future). Although ice time and overall operat- ing costs have risen, the Port Perry Rin- gette Association is pleased to an- nounce that for the fifth year in a row registration fees will remain the same. This is made possible thanks to major loyal sponsors and other successful fund raising functions. New for the 95-96 season, Port Perry Ringette seasonis sneaking up quickly Ringette is pleased to announce that Power Skating will be available for the first two weeks of practices. August 4 Cartwright Express over Caesarea Fire- fighters 6-5 Express pitching and defense held the Firefight- ers with a five run lead un- til the final inning when the Firefighters scored four more on five walks and an out of the park home run by Vernon. For Express, Michel doubled and singled, Wonnacott, Bell and Spicer each had a pair of singles. Knigii., Rolfe and Balser had a sin- gle each and Lowe had an out of the park home run. For the Firefighters, Marsh, Minshall, Knoest- er, Chapman, McCourt, Swain and Klei all had a single each. Vernon was two for three with two out of the park home runs! Excellent job guys and good luck in the Marsh and tleton League and Adam fatuvel Gamblers win 6-2 The Greenbank Gamblers met the Antrims in Port Perry last Tuesday night and were rained out of a home encounter on Thursday against the Brampton Hawks. In Port Perry at the lakefront diamond Mark Gore- ski and Randy Underwood were the opposing pitch- ers and for two innings the game remained scoreless. But in the top of the third the Gamblers hit for five runs as they sent nine batters to the plate in the "bat- around" inning. Steve Durham started things rolling for the Gam- blers with a single and after Underwood had retired Trevor Till and Colin Newell, Chris Burkholder drove home Durham with the first run of the game and Don Beaton drew a base on balls. Brian Till followed with a line drive double to score two more runs and Paul Goreski added the last two with a long belt into Lake Scugog. John Annis pitched for the final four innings for Port Perry. Greenbank scored again in the sixth on Colin Ne- wells triple and Chris Burkholders third hit of the night for a 6-0 lead. Port Perry fought back in the seventh to score two runs on hits by Steve Connors, Mike Clark, Ken Bryant and Jason Rideout but Goreski fanned the fi- nal batter to end the game and strand two Port Perry base runners. The final score was 6-2 in favor of the Gamblers. Pete Oosterholt and Chris Burkholder led the Greenbank batters with three hits apiece with Steve Durham, Colin Newell and Brian Till each adding a pair of hits. Paul Goreski's home run rounded out the 13 hit attack. Jason Rideout and Steve Connors had a pair of safe hits for the Antrims with Lawrie Williams, Clark, Mike Moffat and Ken Bryant adding one hit each. Turn to Page 18
