What an accomplishment that this community centred event has been held continu- ously for that many years! The demolition derby is held at the fairgrounds beginning at 7 p.m and will have three heats, followed by the feature. On fair day doors open at 9:30 a.m., and the Whitehalls midway will be in action. Another important section of our fair, the 4-H Club Achievement Days, will com- mence at 10:30 a.m. At 11 a.m. the colorful parade which will feature floats and decorated entries as well as the DS Ethnic Band and Dale Page will arrive at the fairgrounds. David Simser, President of the Oncario Association of Agricultural Societies will officially open the 1995 Blackstock Fair. The afternoon will be filled with a large variety of activities and features. Entertainment will be provided by the Mundell family and their guests and by Dale Page. Magic shows will be presented by the very enter- taining Michael Ross. Pepper the Clown will be pleasing many folks, young and old alike. The sheep show will feature displays of a large variety of breeds of sheep, and then how the fleece 1s made into all sorts of creations as well as a cooking demonstration of lamb. Kids' world for children Children will find Kids' World a great place with the mutt show at noon, followed by a variety of contests - color- ing contest, pudding eating contest, various relays and other races. The program will also include the popular Pedal Pull contest for children up to 80 pounds. The horse show will feature heavy horse classes, harness classes for light horses, and a saddle horse show. Beef and dairy cattle will have theiy classes as well. In the exhibit hall the visitors will see exhibits of cooking, sewing, crafts of all kinds as well as demonstra- tions of folk art. The conces- sions 1n the arena always dis- play products of a great scope. There you will also find the ever-popular Old McDonald's Farm where Glenys Gotham will show you the wide variety of farm babies. The champion Chocolate Cake and Cherry Pie will be auctioned off to the highest bidder during the afternoon. Another long-running attraction is the Media Cow Milking Contest. This will be held in front of the grandstand in late afternoon. Once again the horse pull will be held. It's always a pop- ular event that many people enjoy. The United Church Beef Barbecue Supper at the church just up the street is a great place to have your evening meal. Of course there are many places on the grounds where you can buy typical fair food. The fair ends up with a dance for all ages with music by Jerry Archer from KX96 FM. Plan now to attend the 130th Blackstock Fair. This area of the fair is set up to attract kids from ages 3 through 13. The day will start at noon, with the popular Mutt Show. Every kid who partici- pates in an event at Kids World will receive a prize. There will also be a coloring contest open to kids of all ages. Special prizes will be awarded to the winner of each of the four different age groups. To wind up the day the Blackstock Fair will once again run its mini tractor pull. These tractors are pedaled by the contestants own two legs. There are three different weight classes (classes are by weight of the child).
