McCready, born in the city of New York on February 8, 1915 and a resident of south Greenbank for the last 20 years, died suddenly July 23, 1995 at the Communi- ty Memorial Hospital in Port Perry. He was in his 81st year. He had been based In Spanish- speaking Panama for an extensive period of time. In 1954 Mr. McCready moved to Canada to take up a teaching post .at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, and then until his retirement in 1980 at the University of Toronto. He dedicated time to teaching, and writ- ing articles and books on things Spanish becoming well known as an interna- tional scholar of renown. A professor emeritus of the University of Toronto, he 18 listed in Who's Who. His hobbies included a special interest in cryptog- raphy and painting.
