PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, August 29, 1995 - 31 Scout report Fall's here, so Scout programs beginning As the summer vacation draws to a close and thoughts turn to youth re- turning to the classroom to learn, a group of dedi- cated adults' thoughts turn to learning and con- tinued enjoyment of the outdoors for the youth. This group of adults are the Beaver, Cub, Scout and Venturer leaders. This fall the Cubs start a new, exciting, and up- dated Cub Program that offers all Cubs the oppor- tunity to work on a new Purple Star that introduc- es the Cubs to Canadian Heritage, Aboriginal Awareness and the chang- ing world around them. Third year Cubs will be able to work on activity badges that will introduce and link them to the Scout Program. This year, some of our Cub Leaders moved up with their sons to become Scout Leaders which has left us a void to fill. Al- though their experience, knowledge and . enthu- siasm will be missed, we wish them continued good Scouting in their new ad- venture. We still have a number of experienced leaders to carry on with our two packs, but could use some new assistant leaders to join us. We will supply the support and training required. We are very flexible to your needs as we understand that some people have to work shifts, have occupations that have busy periods and that some people may have to travel out of town periodically. If you would like to make a difference in a youth's commitment to values of doing "his" best consider getting involved. We usually have a week- end fall and spring camp under canvas and a winter camp in a cabin at Camp Samac. Our meetings are one and one half hours long and we try to have one meeting a month as an outside activity.
