I'm pleased to report that Margaret Payne 1s home following her recent stay in Oshawa Hospital. Her daughter Brenda Leaker has been back and forth from Burke's Falls to keep an eye on her mother and recently had a visit with her friend Darlene Christie. Birthday wishes to Zol- tan Domik who celebrated his 40th with friends and family at a surprise party on Sunday evening in Uti- ca Hall. Archie and Jennie Wat- son, Luella Bailey and Chris and Joanne Ruhl were at a luncheon on Monday at the home of Dave and Tina Martin in Scarborough to celebrate the 60th wedding anniver- sary of Mel and Pat Crack- nell. Happy Birthday to Chris Ruhl. Visitors at his home on the weekend to help him celebrate were Bill, Lynda Ruhl and boys of Manchester, Peggy, Willy Burke and family of North Bay, Tina and Dave Martin of Scarborough and Bert and Sarah Ruhl of Leaskdale. Saturday guests at the Ruhl home were John and Ann Seven- ster from Orangeville and their relatives who were visiting from Holland. Several from the area enjoyed the Threshing Days at Quaker Hill Mu- seum. The Ashtons and Kerrys had their cars in the antique car parade. Many of us enjoyed an- other look at William Ba- con's sawmill. Bacon's Sawmill at Marsh Hill sawed a lot of logs for this community. Ross and Barbara Evans enjoyed a visit with cousin Shirley-Ann (Cro- sier) Calder from Alberta recently. She attended the wedding of her nephew in Prince Albert and visited with family and friends in the area. Port Perry Fair has ar- rived. The children's back to.school and the fall pro- grams are in place. Be- thesda Reach Women's In- stitute will be held September 27 at 7:45 p.m. Watch for the Institute display at Uxbridge Fair and the Durham Farm and Rural Family Re- source's farm safety pup- pet show. Robbie and Cindy Sprules and family en- joyed an August holiday at their cottage. We wish Eri- ca another successful year at University. The community sends it sympathy to Doreen Ken- dall and family in the re- cent passing of her father Gordon Hawes. Word has just been re- ceived of the passing of Ralph Wilbur today (Mon- day) and our sympathy 1s extended to his wife Elsie, Hillis and family and Dor- othy and her family. Ralph lived for many years In Utica, was active in the Church and Community Hall Board before he moved to Port Perry.
