Wilbur nets first puck as SHL returns The Pineridge Wolves and the Monsma Chargers were the first lucky teams to face the cold and hard ice for the first game in the Sunday Morning Hockey League since last year. The two teams fought hard but only one team can win and it was the Wolves. The first goal scored was by Todd Wilbur who was backed and helped by Darcy Milligan of the Wolves. Then after that the rest of the team caught on and Ken Davison scored with the help of Darcy Milligan and Larry Pilkey, followed by Darcy Milligan shooting and Ken Davison assisting the shot. In the beginning of the second period Steve Churchill assisted by Lee Wilbur and Jack Monsma fought back and scored their first goal for the Chargers. Next Ken Smart Sr., unassisted, took the puck in to score another for the Wolves. Bill VanCamp placed an- other shot into the Wolves net assisted by Steve Churchill. The beginning of the third period started with a goal by Reg Templeman, assisted by Rob VanCamp and Ray Zaparanuik of the Wolves. Brian Pomeroy, helped by Bill VanCamp and Lee Wilbur, fired the third and last shot in for the Chargers. Ray Zapara- nuik, with Larry Jackson and Ken Smart Sr. showed no mercy and fired another in to the Chargers net, followed closely by Larry Pilkey and Larry Jackson assisting Ken Smart Sr. for the final goal, giving the Wolves a 7-3 win and an excellent start. The second game was played by the Pizza De- light Roosters and the Ball-Callery Senators. They both fought each oth- er hard until finally John Harman of the Roosters, assisted by Jeff John- stone, scored halfway through the first period. The next goal was placed in by Dale Bronson assisted by Brian Callery and Rob Evans, of the Sen- ators to keep the fight go- ing. Jeff Johnstone and Jim Fowler assisted Tony Oxley of the Roosters in another goal. Rob Evans tried to keep his team's heads above water with the help of Dale Bronson and Paul Goreski. Unfortunately for the Senators the Roosters took control in the third period with John Harman and Carl Durham each scoring twice. Carl Dur- ham was first assisted by John Harman and Brian Stevenson. Then John Harman scored twice, once assisted by Carl Durham, then as- sisted by Terry Flieler. In the last seconds of the game Carl Durham slipped a goal in assisted by John Harman again and Brian Stevenson. The Roosters claimed defeat and the Senators found themselves under water. Don't worry Senators next time you can ruffle the Roosters' feathers. Game three was led by the Harrison Flames who, right from the beginning, beat the Taylor Aces. Bill Bridge was the lead scorer with four goals and two as- sists. Duane Bronson and John Yaz assisted Bill Bridge in the Flames' first goal. Then Duane Bronson assisted Bill in his second goal. Bruce Smith assisted Bill in the next two goals along with Willy Edwards on the fourth goal. Jim Beatty took the next goal with the help of Bill Bridge and Bob Lee. Next came Glen Hudson with Bill Bridge and Willy Edwards for the Flames' final goal. In the top of the third pe- riod was when the Aces' only goal was scored solely by Richie LeFort for the only Ace goal in the 6-1 game. Better luck next time Aces. The fouth game was ended with a shut-out with the Van and Truck World Sharks defeating the Compton Cable Com- ets. The Comets fought hard but today they were no match for the mighty "razor" sticked Sharks. The first goal was scored by Phil Cochrane who was assisted by Rick Olaisen and Lee Steives. Followed by Phil was Rick Olaisen's goal which was assisted by Carl Durward and Jay Adam. The final game was Turnto Page 23 Scugog Bridge results Sept. 6 Afternoon 3-1/2Table Howell Avg. 24 First - Delaine and Jer- ry Dyer 30-1/2. Second - Doris Phinney and Judy Atkinson 27.
