The studies may appear monotonous, but at the same time are necessary. As a major throughway for cottagers, and a tourist town itself, Port Perry sees an incredible amount of traffic all summer, and it doesn't slow down in the winter as snowmobilers travel to the same cottages. Highway 7A is a nightmare at the best of times, from the Beer Store across the causeway. With dozens of entrances, both residential and commercial, combined with the impossible view from side streets, minor accidents are a dime a dozen. It took years to see lights at the plaza to solve one problem, but it is still taking years longer to solve problems around Old Simcoe/7A, Carnegie/7A and a host of others. It has taken years and a number of fatal accidents to see lights installed at Highway 12 and Reach Road and 7A/Highway 57, and years longer for someone to actually YOU KNOW , YOU'D FIND TT A Lot EASIER IF YOU TIED EACH SHOE UP SEPARATE ... LIKE ALL OF THE OTHER RUNNERS DO. realize that there is a problem on the Island Road -- although a solution has yet to be implemented. It's good to see council thinking ahead and looking at potential problems before okaying development. Scugog does not need another intersection that leaves locals wondering how many deaths it takes to constitute a traffic light. Scugog, remember, led Durham last year in the number of fatal car accidents. It is time to correct present problems, not create more of them. To the Editor: YARD SALE - How often do we yield to this temptation? Over the years we have got some very good items at reasonable prices. Beware, however, of electrical merchandise which cannot immediately be plugged in and checked as working. Recently in Port, my husband and I bought a computer at a yard sale. We wanted something we could start with, do some word processing and amuse our small grandchildren. We were assured that it was working; obviously we were PHOTO COURTESY SCUGOG SHORES MUSEUM VILLAGE It's 'buyer beware' at yard sales not able to have it set up, but we felt the people were honest and trustworthy. However when we got it home and connected up, it was not working. After taking it to several repair shops we were informed that it was obsolete and parts could not be obtained for it. We returned it to the people we purchased it from, leaving it with their daughter as they were away for the weekend. She having no money said her parents would call.
