"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" Hospital honoring long service Staff, volunteers to be recognized throughout the week By Kelly Lown Port Perry Star Long-time staff and vol- unteer members will be recognized this week at Community Memorial Hospital. More than 50 people will be presented with pins during Staff and Vol- (Sept. 25-29) at the local hospital, including two with 30 years service. Staff with 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years service will be honored with the 10K gold and sterling silver pins as the hospital's way of saying thank you. The hospital, which hands out a Quality Improve- ment Inpatient Questionnaire to all patients, re- ceived its most recent outcome of the survey and offi- cials are ecstatic with the results. Ruth Wilkins said the results show the volunteers and staff of the hospital they are doing a good job. "It reinforces the good job they are doing and that the communityisrecognizingit," she said. The hospital relies on its patients to rate the way they are treated at the facility and the questionnaires are reviewed on a monthly basis. All recommenda- tions are taken under advisement and put forward at the annual budget meeting. The questionnaire asks questions pertaining to pa- tient's admittance, their wait for care and staff capa- bilities amongother services. Patients were also asked to rate the hospital from poor to excellent on the cleanliness, temperature, noise control, respect, food and other services during their stay. Heather Cooper on the teenage years and skin care. All adult volunteers and auxiliary volunteers will be honored on Thursday. The 118 volunteers spend many hours in the tuck shop, rehabilitation, food and nutrition, library and admitting departments and serving as board members.
