24- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, September 26, 1995 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" SPORTS -- da Garden Centre, The season has ended for Cartwright Minor Ball participants and the last function to be held is the An- nual General Meeting; which is to be scheduled for Monday, Oct. 23 at the Blackstock Recreation Cen- tre, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Many individuals and businesses are to be thanked for their contributions to another successful season. The individual contributors include many in the com- munity, and at the risk of forgetting to include some, Cartwright Minor Ball says "thank you" to you all. The league pays special tribute to the team spon- _ sors who continue to support the league with their fi- nancial support. These include: All Flags Shell, Anal- Antrim House, Asselstine's Yamaha, Blackstock Figure Skating Club, Black- stock Lions, Campbell Electric, Carpet Warehouse, Cartwright ball meeting Oct. 23 Cumming's Backhoe, Dr. Workman, Optometrist, Don Frew & Sons, H & M Wright Feed Company, Jim's Excavating, Lishman's, Mann's Sweet Corn, Marlin Travel, Martyn Consulting, Mike Baker Auto- motive, Nestleton Country Store, Overridge Retail, Philp Pontiac Buick, Pineridge Sports, Port Perry I.G.A., Spring Grove Farm, Super Spud Chip Truck, Swain Seeds, Turner's Greenhouse, and Wotten Car- pentry. Without the support of these sponsors, Cart- wright Minor Ball could not function to the degree thatit does. Also, many thanks to the coaches, umpires, and parents, who have contributed a great deal of time and effort into the league. They shocked the Muskies 5-3 in Lindsay in their opener and scored a 4-3 overtime win over the Peterbo- rough Trentway-Wagar Petes last Sunday at the Bowmanville Recreation Complex. Eagles have only seven returning Men's SHL off to good start by Andy Seeley This Sunday in Hockey the first game was opened by the Harrison Flames and the Pizza Delight Roosters. In the first peri- od Willy Edwards, assist- ed by Bob Beveridge and Rick Hope, scored the first goal for the Flames. Then Bill Bridge was assisted by Duane Bronson to score the second goal for the Flames. In the third peri- od Jim Beatty scored with the help of Bill Bridge and Duane Bronson. Finally Duane Bronson scored the last goal assisted by Bill Bridge and Jim Beatty, to end the game at a 4-0 game for the Flames. Game Two was a close reflection of Game One with the Van and Truck World Sharks beating the Monsma Chargers 3-0. Dave Brownson opened the game with the help of Phil Cochrane to score the first goal. Next Mike Adam, assisted by Jay Adam and Dave Brown- son, ' scored the second goal. Wayne Hancock was assisted by Dave Dickson and Carl Durward to end the game at 3-0. Game Three was a high- er scoring game hosting Fitzgeralds Clippers and players. On their roster are three former Junior C players: John Liriano and Darryl Whitlock from the Uxbridge Bruins and Ge- off Smith from Georgina Ice. Durham Federal Liberal ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Thursday, September 28, 7:30 Blackstock Arena Come out and vote for a new executive the Taylor Aces. In the first period, Doug Suppel- sa was assisted by Steve Lee and Tom Barnes to score the first for the Clip- pers. Next Derek Fitzge- rald scored the second with the help of his broth- er Greg. The third goal for the Clippers went to Rick Campbell who was assist- ed by Peter Lane. The next goal was scored by the Aces' Ken Little and as- sisted by Mark Jobb and Steve Dunn. Bill Owen scored another for the Aces with the help of Mark Jobb and Wayne Taylor. In the third period the Clippers took back with Steve Lee's goal, assisted by Doug Suppelsa and Derek Fitzgerald. Then Tom Barnes scored an- other goal for the Clippers with the help of Dave Mil- ton and Rick Campbell. Derek Fitzgerald scored the next goal which was assisted by Jim: Park. Then, to finish off the game Derek Fitzgerald was assisted by his father Carl and Tom Barnes to end the game at 7-2 for the Clippers. The Pineridge Wolves and J & D Carpentry host- ed the fourth game. Gary Lance opened the game with an unassisted goal for the Hawks. Then John Mackey was assisted by Tim Ashbridge to score an- other for the Hawks. Bob Collins assisted Joe Cur- ran to score another for the Hawks. Then Clarence Stephenson was assisted by Darcy Milligan to start their scoreboard going. Alan Sibbald, unassisted scored for the Hawks to bring the score up to 4-1. Darcy Milligan was assist- ed by Todd Wilbur for an- other Wolves' goal. Then Ken Smart Sr. scored, as- sisted by Darcy Milligan for the last of the Wolves' scoring. The last goal was scored by John Mackey and assisted by Keijo Kin- nunen and Brian Norton toend the game for the J & D Carpentry Hawks. This last game of the day was played by the Compton Comets and the Ball-Callery Senators. Mike McQuade scored the first and only goal for the Comets, which was assist- ed by Bob Beacock.
