' i 5 § y { CARAT, Sl 26- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, October 3, 1995 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Breadmaking Club begins October 4 Blackstock by TH What an absolutely beautiful weekend with such great fall colors de- veloping throughout the trees. No doubt many fam- ilies enjoyed "color tours" to various points both lo- cally and further afield. On Sunday afternoon the Antique Car Color tour that had been an item at the United Church Spring Auction took place. Owners of the lovely old cars Graham Duff, Harold McLaughlin, and Russell Carnaghan, accompanied by their ladies drove Har- old and Lois Luke, Don and Louise Swain, Bob and Linda Kyte and Mer- rill and Jean VanCamp to the cottage of Connie and Ernie Swain and Brian and Judi Mountjoy in the Kawarthas in the Gooder- ham area. When the tour arrived after travelling through breathtaking col- ors, their hosts and host- esses were waiting for them. Great food and vis- iting were also part of this special event. They re- turned home by a differ- ent route and all agreed it had been indeed a great trip. Best wishes are extend- ed to Ted Cochrane and Carol Durham who were married last Saturday in Blackstock United Church. Following picture taking at the Gazebo in Palmer Park, Port Perry the reception and dance were held at the Port Perry Legion. Following a honeymoon to Niagara Falls, Ted and Carol are living in Scugog Point, Nestleton. Congratula- tions. Last Sunday at the St. John's Anglican Church, a baptism took place when Connor, son of Martin and Kim Tafertshofer was re- ceived into the Church. Best wishes are extend- ed to Jeff Rohrer whois at- tending Sir Wilfred Lau i- er in Waterloo taking first year Business and to R.J. Ford who is beginning his third year at Trent Uni- versity. As speedy recovery as possible is wished for Tim Lang who underwent hip surgery. last week in Oshawa Hospital. On Sept. 29 Stewart and June Bray observed their 50th wedding anniver- sary. They began celebrat- ing this special event by renewing their wedding vows in Utica United Church (where they had planned to be married un- til a war injury put Stew- art into Hospital where they were actually mar- ried). They were guests of honor at an Open House held in the Blackstock Recreation Centre during Saturday, Sept. 30 after- noon followed by a family dinner catered by Wilma VanCamp. The celebra- tions concluded with a dance at the rec centre. The family presented their parents with por- traits of their seven chil- dren and their grandchil- dren. On Sunday most of the family returned to the home of their daughter Marlene and Earle Trewin to enjoy a time of visiting. Best wishes Stewart and June. On Sunday, Gerald and Joyce Kelly hosted a fami- ly dinner welcoming daughter Elaine home from an enjoyable three week vacation to Scandi- navia, Russia, Belarus, Poland and Germany, Hol- land, France and England. Attending were Elizabeth and Peter Peeters, Court- ney, Kathryn and Graham of Omemee and Esther Kelly of Fesserton. Elaine had arrived home on Sat- urday evening while the rest of the family were en- joying the many events of the Bobcaygeon fair. There were 11 tables at the weekly card party with the following winners - Nerta Masters, Charlie Stapleton, Harold Craw- ford, Paul Mucha, Jean Porrill, Margaret Finney and Ruby Smith. Lucky draws were won by Betty Hockley, Gord Finney, Pearl Moore, Grace Bass- ant, Marie Geer and Marg Finney. Many from this area en- joyed both Markham and Bobcaygeon Fairs over the weekend. Several partici- pate in exhibiting or tak- ing part in the different sections of these fairs. Muriel and Henry Wot- ten returned recently from a most enjoyable bus tour to the eastern prov- inces. On the bus were travellers from various countries around the world which certainly adds to the interest. On Saturday, several from this area enjoyed the wedding of Eugene Mack- ie and Heather Day in Kingsview United Church, Oshawa. Best wishes Heather and Eu- gene.
