Canada caters endlessly to Quebec | To the Editor: The latest outburst from the separatist lead- ers is they want separa- tion from Canada for the way they have been treat- ed. If ever there was a province catered to, molly coddled, kissed touche to, it is the spoiled child of Confederation. Trudeau and Mulroney, along with Premiers Pe- terson and Bob Rae, bowed and scraped to Que- bec's every demand. The separatists have done all in their power to drive the Anglos out of Quebec. Starting with Lib- eral Premier Bourassa's French only language bills aided and abbeted by the anti-Anglo groups. It ushered in the Bloc Quebecois and the PQ - both aimed at the destruc- tion of Canada. Both are prevaricators of the truth. Many learned people across the country have come to the conclusion that Quebecis not unlike a festering cancer - that like a boil, it continues after 128 years to pain the rest of Canada with never end- ing demands for special status, superior to the oth- DRINK CHART @ We 50z (142 mL) Table Wine 1-1/2 0z (43 mL) - Whiskey, Rum etc. ONE DRINK i 12 0z (341 mL) Beer 2 Rs ote Pinewood Centre Community Addiction Services 985-472 OS AAA AAA AAAS AAAS ASA AAA SOOO OOO RL rl ONE DAY ONLY 20% 0FF ALL TREE DECORATIONS AND ORNAMENTS IN GARRY'S 4,0005Q.FT. Like an errant child it must be dealt with in a no- nonsense manner. No more concessions. Meech Lake said it and it was fi- nal in the Charlottetown accord. Take it or leave it. The peoples of Canada have spoken. Every time the separat- ists make an alarming statement the stock mar- ket and the dollar take a plunge. We all pay for the folly. Even though a Que- bec Judge says the refe- rendumisillegal. The people who will suf- fer most are the Anglos in Quebec - about one million people. The sons and daughters of the business pioneers who made Que- bec what it is today. The separatists even change historic records in their at- tempt to blame the anglo for their malaise. Lets look at the true history of Que- bec. Ruperts land which rep- resents two thirds of Que- bec was not part of Canada Confederation. It was pur- chased from Hudson's Bay Co. in 1870 by the Domin- ion of Canada. Natives there want to remain part of Canada. Interested Ca- nadians should go to the li- brary and see the National Film Board production "The Rise And Fall of Eng- lish Montreal." See the true picture of what is happening to the Anglo heritage in Quebec. How Quebecers change history to delete the contribution Anglos made to Quebec. In closing I quote from a major front-page story in the Montreal Gazette. Most young Anglos plan to leave Quebec -- 62 per cent plan to leave within five years, while a whopping 73 per cent say they will be gone in 10 years. Of the 53,000 jobs in Quebec civil service léss than 1 per cent are filled by Anglophones. By contrast here in Onta- rio more than 5,000 jobs are designated for Franco- phones, mainly by the Rae and Peterson govern- ments. While Ontario en- forces Bill 8 French servic- es Act Quebec destroys merit ad equal opportuni- ty for its English speak- ing. Meanwhile Chretien pledges to bolster the stat- us of French by stating the French Fact is here to stay and the Federal govern- ment will keep it that way. Little help for the million Anglos in Quebec JE ME Souvien. (We remember). Dean Kelly, Port Perry' Remove roadblocks From Page 6 now is less bureaucracy and more progress.
