"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Wednesday, October 11, 1995 - 31 Sports meeting is Wednesday night deésarea Albert Putsey I suppose the most im- portant item this week is the winter sports meeting Wednesday night at 20 Putsey Dr., Caesarea - 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. In 1992 we had a great rink for pleas- ure and hockey organized by Corrine Wood and her group. In 1993 we had a rink but flooding was lim- ited and the winter was so bitter cold. Last year I called a meeting and I only had five people out to it with the youngest being 59 years of age. The ball is really in your court. If you want the youth hanging around the four corners with nothing to do by all means don't attend. But if you like our village and the activities in it, please come out. We can hold at least 50 people and we need your support. Meet- ing starts at 7:30 p.m sharp. The next veryimportant item is the Hall Board's Fall Bazaar this Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. As you know everyone who re- ceives help from the differ- ent governments has that support greatly reduced or terminated for this year. 'The rentals of the hall does not cover the operat- ing cost so consequently we have to rely on special events to help out. Be sure to come out and give this hall your support this Sat- urday. One of the Scouts re- ported to me that they made between $70 to $80 at their car wash on Satur- day. Remember what a day it was and the weather man promised rain for the af- C ternoon which we got. Good going gang. I hope the "Haunted House" on the 30th is also a success. Also, don't forget to sup- port the Scout Apple Day this coming Saturday. They would also like me to extend their sincere thanks to Colwell Farms for supplying them with baskets for the event. The Pine Ridge Garden Club had a great day last Thursday on their bus trip to St. Jacobs Market down Kitchener way and then to the Belgian Nursery. Here we saw acres of green houses and a great variety of plants. One section was full of Christmas pointset- tias growing to maturity for this Christmas. The trip was rather hilarious as the woman driving the lead bus got lost a couple of times and then we had to take a detour in another area on our way home due to them making a movie. This all added a little more fun to our days outing. We had supper in Guelph. Here Eileen and I were able to meet a friend of some 46 years and break bread with him. Trust you all had a most enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends. Although I must admit the sun could have shone a lot more. Happy 47th wedding anniversary to Islay and Allan Cay on the 15th and ours on the ninth. Saying of the Week When I want to under- stand what is happening today or try to decide what will happen tomorrow, I look back. Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. Joke of the Week Football player's wife, "I hate it when my husband calls leftovers replays". T.V. executive's wife, "My husband calls them reruns". Mortician's wife, "Be grateful. My husband re- fers to them as remains".
