The Modacks, along with the other five Central League teams, will be faced with a 42-game schedule this sea- son, compared to a 36-game schedule previously. The longer schedule was made to ac- commodate another change, which will see the local league teams playing home and home series' with the Camp- bellford Rebels, the Picton Pirates and the Brighton Sting of the Eastern Onta- rio league. One other significant change this season also sees the league one team short as the Bowmanville Eagles made the jump to the Junior A level. Bow- manville edged the Modacks for top spot in the league last season and de- feated the local squad for the league championship as well. All of the changes should make for a more exciting hockey season as every game will count as much as the next as teams scramble for playoff berths. Only four teams will advance to the playoff round instead of the traditional six. While Bowmanville walked away with the league title last season, 20 points ahead of the second place Mo- Jacks, only 14 points separated the Mo- Jacks and sixth place Little Britain, which may make it very close at the top once again.
