It started with a trip to the Oshawa Civic on Thurs- day, Oct. 12 where they met the L.N.H.L. Bruins. Our team started off flying as Tyson Savage found Derek Goreski's rebound to open the scoring. Short- ly after that, Danny "Kill- er" Halward scored for Pearce Auctions with helpers to Nelson Lang- maid and Kyle Mullins. Ashley Lucas showed great puck control in the Oshawa end and centered it out to a waiting Tyson Savage who banged it home. Kory Bauer had a strong game on defense breaking up several rush- es. Oshawa replied with a late goal to make it 3-1. On Friday the 13th, luck would have us off to our Shepstone squad drop Manvers 7-5 The Shepstone Haul- age, Petite C Ringette team, played their first game on Saturday, Oct. 14. Up against a tough op- ponent from Manvers, the girls played well and end- ed up winning the game 7- 5. Despite this being their first game of the season, the Port Perry team dem- onstrated their experience and ability by balancing an aggressive attack with some solid defense. Port Perry was first to score and added two more goals before Manvers was able to penetrate the Port Perry defense and net their first. Leading 4-1 at the end of the first period, the Port Perry girls scored three more goals and held a 7-1 lead with less than four minutes to play. Nev- er out of the game, despite the score, Manvers finally found some openings in the Port Perry defense and was able to score four quick goals in about a min- ute and one half. The Port Perry team then regained their composure and held off the Manvers attack to save the 7-5 win. Scoring for Port Perry were Jackie Pashley CORRECTION for Uxbridge Bowl Ad of Oct. 4 wrong. In addition to great goaltending, the strong checking and good passing shown by the Port Perry girls, kept the Manvers team at bay. This was a true team effort with Sa- rah Aldridge, Holly Alli- son, Shannon Hatfield, Chelsea Mateo, Whitney Reid, Shannon Urquhart and Hailey Wilson all con- tributing with excellent plays. As long as the girls continue play with this in- tensity and effort, the Shepstone Haulage Petite C team should do well this season. After the puck was dropped, our opponents put the pressure on for 23 of the 25 minute game. They came at us in waves and had a four goal lead af- ter two periods. Port Perry competed strongly but Uxbridge had our number this time. Our goalie, Leo Taillon, made numerous fine saves and kept the score respectable. The hard work of Jeff Tomcheski and Kyle Mul- lins broke Uxbridge's shutout. Great showing Pearce Auctions! We're very proud of our "A" division fi- nalists. Printing. Printing goalie.
