8- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, October 17, 1995 Attended Vancouver gala Friday Paula Lishman is named § winner of national award 8 Scugog's Paula Lishman was in Vancouver late last week to accept a prestigious entrepreneurs' award. Mrs. Lishman, whose high-fashion fur garments are manufactured in Blackstock, was named recipient of the International Competitiveness Award at the fourth annual Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Friday (Oct. 13). The award, sponsored by DuPont Canada Inc., is given to the entrepreneur who owns a Canadian company which has increased sales by developing global markets for its products or services. Part of the criteria is that at least 30 per cent of sales must occur outside Canada. Award recipients are selected annual- ly by the Women's Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Toronto. The fourth annual edition of the awards gala was held at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre and in all, awards in six categories were given to women from across the country. Rf A \ Awards committee WIT \ members received 170 LISHMAN nominations from across Canada, an increase of 36 per cent from last year. the call for nomina- tions ran from March until June of this year, and 38 finalists were announced in September. They have donated the first tree in the Garden of Memories at Port Perry's Community Memorial Hospital, another part of the extensive renovations that have occurred there over the past couple of years. As time goes on the garden will be filled with more memorial trees and shrubs, as well as a sun dial and fountains. A ceremony to dedicate the first instaliment took place at the hospital Saturday afternoon.
