Also, autumn is the bold beauty of maturity laden with the bounty of harvest; as well as the golden tint of the sun casting long shadows! Autumn 1s unforgetable. A favorite time of year, before bleak November arrives - when the trees are all but bare, and clouds roll across the heavens with threatening rain or snow. Let us savor this glorious time of year while we can. Let us get out and do some walking in the bracing fall air's the best exercise trend. We are told that walking for health is number one, replacing jogging. So! "Give it a whirl" during these fall days. You won't be sorry, I'll guarantee! Visit Enjoyed Michael Leishman of Reabo- ro, visited with his grandmoth- er Neta Fish and Uncle Calvin and Aunt Yvonne Holland and family of Edgerton Road recent- ly. One grand weekend for Mi- chael! Villa Program Several members; of Nestle- ton United Church entertained the residents of the Villa in Port Perry on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 2:30 p.m. with a delightful en- tertainment. Jean Williams was the capable emcee for the program. We do have some very talent- ed people in Nestleton. Law- rence Malcolm dressed in cos- tume singing comical songs with wife Gwen at the piano, Norm and Bernice Mairs from Janetville - Norm playing his omnichord and he and Bernice singing comical songs in harmo- ny. Also many lively stories and readings from others present made for an entertaining after- noon. Three residents were cele- brating their birthdays and happy birthday was sung and they received lovely gifts from our birthday girl Neta Fish. She also read a poem for them! A beautiful birthday cake made and decorated by Barb Weir from Nestleton was cut and served along with tea or cof- fee. The Nestleton folk were thanked at the close by two peo- ple of the Villa - Ruth Thompson and Armour McMillan. ~ APrayer Plus (prayer by Marion Taylor Ford - a former Nestleton girl - now. de- ceased) When you say a little prayer, remember others everywhere, How long for them may be the night, your prayer might shed a little light, And a friend may carry a heavy load, your prayer might help him down the road, So make your prayer a plus, add a word for us. Beyond Measure How can one measure friend- ship, The firm, warm clasp of a hand, The comfort in the wel- - come sound of the words, "I un- derstand?" How can one measure cou- rage - The strength we find to fight, to suffer life's anxieties, to stand up for the right? How can one measure beauty, hope or happiness or love? What man-made measure can encom- pass Faith in God above? So much of'life - the best of life - The things we truly treasure, and these, the gifts of boundless depth, Beyond all earthly meas- ure.
