"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, October 31, 1995 - 31 Church marks 99th anniversary Sunday Greenbank Sunday, Nov. 5, Green- bank Church will be cele- brating its' 99th Anniver- sary. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a half hour of organ/piano musical prelude. The new church organ and choir gowns will be dedicated at this service. Guest speak- er will be Rev. Jack Griff- en of Columbus United Church. Lunch will be served following the ser- vice. Everyone welcome. Please come and help us celebrate. Ladies of the congregation are asked to please bring sandwiches, cookies, or squares for the reception. There are still some seats on the bus that is go- ing to Sears Outlet and Dixie Mall, Thursday, Nov. 2. Bus leaves at 8:30 a.m. and returns at 6 p.m. Call Dianne Stone at 985- 7459 for tickets. The Fidelas Unit U.C.W. will meet Wednes- day, Nov. 1 at 1:30 p.m. in the church basement. A navy veteran will be the guest speaker. The Evening Unit U.C.W. will hold their meeting in the church basement on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. They will be doing a Christmas craft. If you are intending to attend this meeting, please call Suzanne Lee at 985-2006 so she will have enough craft supplies. The Youth Group are having a breakfast in the church on Nov. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tickets are available from any youth member. Congratulations to Barb Ward, Lloyd and Marion Lee, and Larry Do- ble on the awards they won on Oct. 26 from the Township of Scugog for outstanding service to the community of Greenbank. The Greenbank Com- munity Hall now has a new kitchen floor thanks to the volunteer efforts of Cliff Rodd, Ed Saunder, Norma Doble and Larry Doble. Our next project is the large basement floor. If you would be willing to help, please phone 985- 3723. The Lions Club will be running a "Pub Night" on Nov. 15 for Lions and guests. The cost is $5 and there will be cards, darts and a variety of beers to sample. Phone 985-3723 for tickets. The Annual Hall Board Christmas Dance will be held on Dec. 9 and the cost is $10 per person. Tickets are going fast as this dance is always sold out. To avoid last minute over crowding, only advance tickets will be sold. For tickets call 985-3703, 985- 3903 or 985-3723. This week the Green- bank Lions Club will be visited by Governor Bob Nutall and this will be a dinner meeting with Don- na Baker and Jackie Barr catering a hot roast beef dinner. Thanks to all the Lions, parents and volunteers for their help at the second annual children's Hallo- ween party at the hall. Special thanks to Jane Chapman, Chris Powell and Penny Sharkey for or- ganizing this event. Over 40 children enjoyed the party. Commencement at Port Perry High School will be held on Friday, Nov. 3 with diplomas and awards for juniors at 2 p.m. and senior awards at 8 p.m. The next community eu- chre will be held at 8 p.m., Nov. 10 and the next Folk Music Night will be held on Nov. 11. Both of these events will be held in the Greenbank Hall d for tickets to the Folk Music Night, call 985-8351. Since this seems to be the week for awards, I would like to say thank you to Larry Doble who contributes the Lions Club and hall and park activi- ties to this column. Thanks Larry. All aboard for 'Bakers-Ville' at library This December at Scugog Memorial Library you can help create a gingerbread village. A village will be created with baked contributions from the community; church and youth groups, schools, and individual families. Dr. Kevin Dunker- ley has offered to set up a model train in the display to bring animation to the scene.
