Printing Van Camps Brad Layzell scored the game winning goal to beat Port Perry Printing 6-5 and gain hat trick. Port Perry Printing dominated first period - scoring two goals by Robert Smith and Todd Lance both unassisted goals. Robert Waller of Van Camp scored at 10:15 of second period to break shut out of Port Perry Printing goaltendey Sean Murray. Van Camp comeback with three more goals scored by Brad Layzell and Shawn McNammara to make the score 4-2. Late in second period Port Perry Printing's Peter Dutka and Robert Smith tied the score to make it a 4-4 game. Third period was close with Van Camp coming back late in period with two goals by Shawn McNammara and Brad Layzell's goal was the game winning goal and his hat trick goal. Port Perry Printing's Todd Lance scored their last goal of the game in a strong effort to tie the game. Peewee House League Scala Bros. vs Larocque The Scala Bros. Peewee House League team was victorious over Larocque Electric 7-2 avenging a loss in the previous confrontation. Jeff VanWyden opened the scoring for Scala, assisted by Brent Simpson and Matt Smart. Before the end of the Laurentian opened up the scoring with Jesse Mischitian putting one in off the crossbar. Lions came right back with a good individual effort by Chris McKitterick. Second period action saw Laurentian score Lions answered back with a goal by David Storr. The scored the winning goal with less than two minutes to go Both goalies made some excellent saves keeping the first period, Andrew Kenny tied the game with a great individual effort. In the second period, Larocque went ahead with a great goal set up by a pass from Joey Shembri. Then the momentum changed as Scala scored three unanswered goals before the buzzer ended the second period. The goals were scored by Glenn Thompson, Jeff VanWyden and Matt Smart, with Glenn's goal assisted by Brent Simpson and Paul Pickering. The third period was full of action in front of both nets but the bounces were going Scala's way as they scored three more times. Jeff scored his third goal, Joseph Farqueson went the length of the ice for a beautiful goal and Rodney Bond potted the last goal with help from Brent Simpson and Beau Jolicuer. Novice House League Haugens vs Re/Max The Novice House League game between Haugens and Re/Max was fast and exciting, with Haugens eventually winning 4-3. : David Briley scored the first goal for Haugens J assisted by Scott Martin. Trevor Algar was in goal for Re/Max and made several good saves to keep Re/Max close. Scott Martin scored Haugens second goal on a breakaway, unassisted. Re/Max scored on a nice goal by David Stewart to make the score 2-1 for Haugens. But James Donaldson scored the third goal for Haugens, unassisted. Re/Max kept skating and Darren Tapper narrowed the score for Re/Max with a good effort, assisted by David Stewart and Heyden Fish. Re/Max was determined to tie the game and kept skating and checking, looking for that one break to score. Kirk Stephens scored a nifty goal on a breakaway to tie the game for Re/Max. But Haugens came back with another goal to win the game 4-3. Alex Herold scored the winning goal for Haugens, assisted by James Donaldson. Re/Max pulled their goalie in favor of the extra attacker to try to tie the game but Haugens defended the attack and won the game. The Techstar Bantams headed north to Woodville on Friday night for their first tournament of the season. Their first game against the host team Woodville was a tough one. Wood- ville was on the borad just 53 seconds into the game, by the 5:00 minute mark Woodville was ahead by two. With just five seconds left in the first period, Matt Caldwell put Port on the board with a nice shot from the corner. This got our boys going but Wood- ville slipped another one in the net to begin the sec- ond period. Techstar came back as Travis Pickard made it two assisted by Tom Keeble and Adam Brain. There was no stop- ping Adam Brain who evened up the score to three with a nice unassist- ed goal. Woodville again responded with three quick goals. Tyler Wooten dug in hard and scored for Port assisted by Tyler Keeble at the 1:20 mark of the third, however despite their efforts Port ran out of time and Woodville took the game. Final score 6-4. Saturday morning the team headed back to Woodville in the first ma- jor snow storm of the sea- son. Despite the terrible conditions of the road the team arrived safely and were ready for game two against the Oshawa Cana- dians. Brad Monsma opened the scoring at 6:51 of the first, assisted by Ryan Hawkins and Ryan Moynes. Brad was making up for lost time after being off the ice for a few weeks there was no stopping him today, just a minute and forty-five seconds later he increased Ports' lead by two assisted by Ryan Hawkins and Adam Brain. Oshawa slipped one by our man between the posts Mike Heron who was playing a solid game. Shawn Hnatko made it three for Port assisted by Tom Keeble and Adam Brain Oshawa tied un the game. Shawn Hnatko put Port ahead again with just one second left on the clock assisted by Scott Sander- son and Tyler Wooten. Oshawa tied it up at the 6:31 mark, but Port would move on to the consolation championship with Brad Monsma getting a hat trick assisted by Tom Kee- ble. Final score 5-4. Techstar took to the ice against Innisfil for the Consolation Champion- ship on Saturday after- noon. Just 30 seconds into the first period Innisfil let Port know they meant business, and followed up shortly after increasing their lead by two. Ryan Hawkins scored for Techstar assisted by Ryan Moynes and Brad Monsma. Tom Keeble tied it up just 13 seconds later assisted by Tyler Wooten and Scott Sanderson. De- spite the efforts of both the defence and forwards In- nisfil moved ahead by three goals. Shawn Hnat- ko scored for Port at the 1:10 mark assisted Dy Techstar Bantams in first tourney Scott Sanderson and Russ Brown. Brad Monsma opened up the third period narrowing the margin as- sisted by Ryan Hawkins and Ryan Moynes. Matt Caldwell tied the score at five at the 8:23 mark of the third assisted by Adam Brain and Russ Brown. In- nisfil never let up, scoring with just 1:41 putting' them ahead. Techstar pulled the goalie and sent the extra attacker out however, Innistil slipped through the lines. Every player on the Techstar team deserves congratulations on an ex- cellent well played game.
