Tending net for Dollar Plus Bargain Centre was Mark Copithorn who ex- hibited tremendous in- stinct for the game while getting a shutout. For netminder Darryl Lycett worked hard to keep his eye on the puck through- out the game with great saves. Both teams have ex- celled in their team-work ability with great two- way playing and defen- sive work. For David's Hair Styling Michael worked hard detensively while Michael Wallace and Brent Henry forged for the puck, playing for- ward. Bargain Plus had great defense plays by Hayden Taylor and Kyle Passmore, with pretty impressive forward work by Eric Brown. Dollar Plus defeated David's Jared Olsen scoring one goal and Kyle Paige get- ting a hat trick. Due to the patience and dedication of the coaches the Advanced Tykes are well on their way to learning the fun- damentals of the game while having a great time. David's Hair Styling, Cooke and Glenn Baker Hair Styling 4-0, with Thanks Coaches! Van Camp 6 - Haugen's 4 Once again Port Perry House League Novice provides an exciting and entertaining morning of hockey. The game between Haugen"s and Van Camps was a nail biter. Van Camp jumped ahead 2-0 on goals by Shawn McNamara, assisted by Jon Taylor and Brooks Taylor assisted by Matt Virtue. Haugen's fought back on a great effort by Cory Hellingman to bring the score 2-1. Van Camp's net minder T. Cosgrove played a strong game making some fine saves for his team. He robbed Haugen's on a couple of shots. Brad Lazell made the score 3-1 at 6:20 of the second on a great effort assisted by Kale Thompson. Owen Penstone played a great game for Haugen's scoring twice. Shawn McNamara found the net two more times to get the hat trick assisted by Darren Black and Brad Lazell. David Dekoning for Haugen's made the score 5-4 on a fine shot from the slot to beat Cosgrove for his first goal of the season. Brad Lazell scored at the buzzer to bring the total to 6-4 in favor of Van Camp, Alex Herold of Haugen"s played a good defensive game, Scott Stone who was a last minute replacement goalie played a good game for Haugen's. Great game kids. Thanks to our sponsors Haugens and Van Camp. I.G.A. 7 - Uxbridge Lions 0 Saturday night Bantam Hockey at the arena saw Port Perry 1.G.A. take on the Uxbridge Lions. Our boys came ready to play and it showed. It was a fast paced game from start to finish. There was no scoring in the first period but it was end to end hockey with great passing and some blistering shots from Chad Lance and Kam Cooper. The boys kept their cool and concentrated on the game despite Uxbridges' efforts to distract them. The second period produced two goals. Outskating the Uxbridge defense, Chad Lance took a great pass up from Nick Ostafichuk resulting in the first goal of the game. Goal number two came at 9:18 from Kam Cooper with assists from John Sanders and Mark Delaney. Great effort guys while killing a penalty. We held Uxbridge scoreless in the second period even though we played shorthanded most of the period. Chris Thompson was great in net coming up with the puck every time and a terrific glove save that had the audience cheering. Our defense team of Nick Ostafichuk, Reid McTaggert and Murphy Irvine was strong and Uxbridge couldn't get through them. Steve Martyns digging in the corners helped get the puck out of our zone as well. Wicked shots from the blue line from Reid McTaggert and Jeremy Pare had the Lions goalie on his toes during the game. We were shorthanded in the last two minutes of the second period and the guys got the puck and raced in but the Uxbridge goalie robbed Jon Sanders and Ken Ellis. The third period was even better. Uxbridge held us off for five minutes scoreless, then we exploded for five goals in the last ten minutes. Chad Lance came off the bench and grabbed a pass from Ken Ellis and Jon Sanders and scored at 10:50. We were still cheering when Joel Van Camp popped it in with help from Kam Cooper and Nick Ostafichuk at 10:40. Uxbridge was beginning to lose their cool. Penalties were being handed out. The highlight of the game came from Jeremy Pare retrieving Reid and saving him for the next game. Thanks Jeremy. (P.S. We wish we had a video to send to Don Cherry). Shorthanded again, out came our penalty killers Ken, Nick, Jon and Murphy. Jon took a nice pass from Nick, shot it in and we went up 5-0. Kam Cooper scored in the last two minutes assisted from Ken Ellis, we had another shorthanded goal. Our last goal came with cight seconds left in the game. Lawrence Cook took a pass from Chad and Joel and we finished with a 7-0 score with Chris Thompson getting a shutout. What a show it was. We missed Peter McKitterick on our forward linc but he will be back next week. Nice to sce all our parents and friends out to support the boys They put in a great effort thanks to our coaching staff of Dave Thompson, Bill Van Camp and Gary Lance. Port Perry Printing 1 - Re/Max 0 Wow, what a game! Port Perry Printing and Re/Max Realty of the Port Perry Novice House League played what had to be their most entertaining hockey game of the year. The game featured end to end action, with great defensive efforts and goaltending on both sides. Josh Page, Ceri Boomsma, and Graham Hofstetter all contributed with excellent defensive efforts, while James Hobbs and Andrew Adams were vahantly trying to crack the "goose egg" for Re/Max. And finally, with 2:47 left on the clock, Chris Jackson scored the lone goal of the game, with assists going to Brook MacKenzie and Jake Pilkey, to give Port Perry Printing a well earned 1-0 victory. Josh Durward of Port Perry Printing and Trevor Algar for Re/Max, were both outstanding between the pipes. Josh and his Port Perry Printing team mates managed to hold on despite a last minute flurry by Re/Max, to preserve the shutout! Danielle Beach and Sean Murray of Port Perry Printing, played a great game with lots of determination! Congratulations to both teams for putting forth and excellent effort and displaying real sportsmanship, in a "classic nail biter!!!" WORKS ON NEW CARS, USED CARS EVEN RUSTY CARS!
