Men's first - Bruce Houghland, second - Lloyd Smith, third - Don Geer. Sarah Brunton had the most lone hands (five). Freeze out winners were Doris and Harry Hill, Phyllis Pegg and Celeste Smalley were second. Draws were won by Leona Butson, Carl Gimblett and Art Parratt. Don Geer won the 50/50. There will be another euchre in two weeks, December 1. Church and Sunday School this week will be held in Epsom United Church at the regular hour of 9:30 a.m. All ladies in the cummunity are invited to join with the Ep- som-Utica United Church Women on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 12 p.m. for their Christmas Pot- luck lunch and meeting. Mark your calendars now and look up your best recipes and plan to at- tend. This will be held in Epsom Church. : This Friday, there will be a short service at 11 a.m. at the farm of Doug Hart (North side of Durham 8, west of Epsom) to dedicate the work of the com- munity and Churches in aid of the Foodgrains Bank project. Muffins and coffee will be served at Epsom Church follow- ing the dedication. All interest- ed persons are welcome. This Thursday, Nov. 23 the U.C.W. and possibly some of their spouses will be visiting the residents of the Uxbridge health Care Centre to help cele- brate with those who have birthdays this month. Anyone who would be interested in helping out and accompanying the group would be welcome. Time of visitis 7 p.m. Some get well wishes to a few unfortunates in the community. A few weeks ago George Rich- ardson received a broken leg, Pete Sutcliffe, this past week fell, breaking an ankle, Diane Nottingham took a fall and cracked some ribs and through the grapevine I heard that Brenda Bailey has not been well and was hospitalized. Speedy recovery folks. Pat Asling, who has been working for some time in Belize, returned home on Tuesday eve- ning leaving behind the 90 de- gree temperatures. She plans to return in January. Welcome home Pat. Ken and Beth Catherwood of Oshawa were Sunday visitors with her mother Ruth Ashton. Hanny Urech spent the past few weeks visiting with her son Ron and Soraya and children at Rochester Hills which is north ~of Detroit. Gail and Arnold Kerry spent the past couple of weeks in Flor- ida where I'm sure it was a lot warmer and less snowy than we've had to contend with here. I'm sure a lot of people got a start on their Christmas shopping. Every- thing looked very festive - even the girls looking after the bake table were dressed up like San- tas' helpers. Lois Daw was the lucky winner for the special draw which of course was a Christmas centerpiece. Thanks to all those willing workers who helped to make it such a suc- cess. Brooklin Horticultural Socie- ty will hold their Christmas show and annual meeting on Wednesday night of this week. Dessert and coffee, tea to be served at 7 p.m. Each family is asked to bring along one of their favorite desserts. The theme for the Decorative Class is "Home for the Holidays" with three separate classes. Plan to join with your gardening friends for this pre-Christmas get together at Brooklin United Church. Thursday night is euchre night again at the Community Centre at 8 p.m. Anyone who enjoys an evening of cards, come along and join in the fun. Bruce and Donna Deakin have returned home following an enjoyable holiday in Califor- nia. Several from Ashburn en- Joyed the delicious turkey sup- per at Mt. Zion on Sunday eve- ning. Rev. Sheina Smith's sermon title on Sunday was "Living Through Chaos," with the choir singing "For The Healing Of 'The Nations."
