Ken Bantam House League - IGA vs Emmerson Action for the IGA Bantams i$ underway at the Scugog Arena! Our big guy Jeremy Pare got our first goal at 11:38 of the first period. We were shorthanded again, when Jeremy took a nice pass up from Kam Cooper (assist) to drill it past the Emmersons goalie. Way to start the game Jeremy! We scored again at 4:46 with Murphy Irvine shooting a great pass to Jon Sanders who popped the puck in the net for goal number two. We had some good pressure applied from Pete McKitterick, Steve Martyn, Kam Cooper, Murphy Irvine and Mark Delaney. Our only goal in the second period came at 8:12 as Lawrence Cook scored with an assist from Pete and Murphy. Way to go guys! Nick Ostafichuk gave us some great defensive work in our end. It's always a thrill to watch Nick play, you never know what trick hell come up with to stop those forwards! Chris Thompson, our netminder came up with some great glove saves. One at 5:20 in the second period left us gasping! We thought for sure it was in, but Chris had it. Great work Chris! i Emmersons finally scored on us in the last five minutes of the second period. It was 3-1. Into the third period we went. There was some good chances with hard work in the corners from Joel Van Camp and Ken Ellis to dig out those pucks. Emmersons scored on us at 9:30 to make the score 3-2. It was time for the defence to shine. Tension mounted and a few of our guys decided to check out the view from the penalty box. The pressure was on. Kam Cooper had a great breakaway at 8:09 but the Emmerson goalie him. It was a great effort Kam! Our penalty killers, Chad Lance, Murphy Irvine and Reid McTaggart were out and wow did they fly! They got a shorthanded goal at 7:34. Chad put it in from Reid and Murphy and up we went 4-2. We lost part of our defence team at 4:16 when Mark Delaney left the game early. Better luck next time Mark, just remember the refs always get the last word) even if its out). The guys had four minutes left to hold the lead and did they work hard. Good effort guys and way to work as a team! Thanks to Mr. Thompson, Dave Ellis and Gary Lance for the advise from the bench (P.S. Does BM on the game sheet stand for bench minor?) We missed Mr. Van Camp but we'll see you in Keswick on Sunday. On the road again team! Novice House League - Van Camp vs Re/Max Van Camp and Re/Max played a very close, exciting, and entertaining game on Nov. 28at the Scugog Arena. Van Camp edged Re/Max 5-4. All the scoring in the game was in the first two periods. The third period was end-to-end action with excellent goaltending from Van Camp's Darren Black and Re/Max's Trevor Algar, both shutting down the offenses completely. The final play of the game was a "penalty shot" awarded to Brad Layzell. Re/Max goalie Trevor Algar stood his ground and made an outstanding save on the play. (This was exciting for the kids and parents.) Van Camp got off to a quick start, before Re/Max could even get their legs it was 2-0 on goals from Brad Layzell and Brooks Taylor with an assist from Michael Aldred. David Stewart led the way for Re/Max with two goals and one assist. His first, unassisted, came at 7:30 of the first period narrowing the gap to 2-1. The third period was end-to-end action with strong skating and plays made by Robert and Michael Waller, Kale Thompson for the Van Camp team; and Haydon Fish, Timothy Gibson, Josh Page, and Tyler Leach representing the Re/Max team. Great game kids, and thanks to our sponsors Re/Max and Van Camp.
