Auctioneers improving Pearce Auction Novice had a busy weekend to start December. On Friday night Port Perry was home to Stouff- ville. The game was an enjoyable con- test, featuring end to end action and fine sportsmanship. It was not until mid-way in the sec- ond period that Pearce auction opened the scoring as the Bee's got together. Jeff Tomcheski moved the puck to Kyle Mullins with a slick pass. Kyle split the defense and tucked the puck into the corner. Strong goaltending at both ends kept the scoresheet blank until midway through the third frame. Stouffville banged in a rebound to tie up the match and that was the way it ended. Saturday afternoon Dec. 2, Pearce Auctioneers played host to a strong Markham squad. Port Perry came out flying andfor the first six minutes the play was concentrated in the Markham zone. Markham opened the scoring with less than a minute and a half re- maining in the first period. At the two minute mark of the second period, Port tied the score on a shot by Keenan Geer from outside the blue line. The shot handcuffed Markham's goalie and managed to trickle across the line. Short handed during the second period, we saw some great defensive work by Tyson Savage, Keenan Geer, Nelson Langmaid and Derek Goreski. This kept Markham off the scoreboard. Less than a minute into the third period, Cassidy Weber centered a pass to Tyson Savage, who made no mistake, lifting it high into the top right corner on a back- hand shot. Seconds later Leo Taillon stopped the Markham offense cold on several shots. Markham eventually found the net and tied the score. Once again Cassidy We- ber was doing some excellent forecheck- ing in the corner when he centered the puck, this time to Ashley Lucas, who on her second shot found the mark. In the dying minutes of the game, Markham pulled their goalie but strong defensive work by Danny Halward and Shane Jeffrey, along with some great goaltending by Mark Carnaghan, kept Markham from scoring. Great hustle, great passing, and a great game. Sunday, Dec. 3 saw Port Perry travel to Oshawa to meet the Red Wings at the Civic. The game featured fine effort by Keenan and the Bees. Nelson Lang- maid set up Tyson Savage for a nice goal as Tyson worked extra hard as to lead the team. Unfortunately Oshawa scored three unanswered goals to win the game. Overall Pearce Auction continues to show better developed passing and hockey sense.
