"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, December 5, 1995 -5 Making Christmas brighter Scugog family hosting a huge display again this year By Kelly Lown Port Perry Star Judy Reid and Kay Not- man are brightening up Scugog Line 3 for the fourth straight year with their fantastic Christmas light display. The home, located just off the Oshawa Road, has been attracting car loads of holiday sightseers for the past three years, much to the owners' delight. Mrs. Reid and her moth- er Mrs. Notman began buying Christmas orna- ments at auctions several years ago and began add- Ing more lights outside their home each year. "We have fun doing it and now people expect it every year. We do it for our enjoyment as well as oth- ers. It's nice to go out and talk with the people," said Mrs. Reid. Although Mrs. Reid didn't want to estimate the number of lights on her property, she said there has to be more than 50,000. It takes months of work to set the displays up and Mrs. Reid says she re- ceives plenty of help from her daughters and other relatives. Every night through November and December the lights go on and a win- ter wonderland is un- veiled. There are lights on all the trees and leading from one display to an- other.
