2- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, December 19, 1995 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Sled thefts soaring Police are investigating another rash of snow- mobile thefts in the Scugog area. Durham Regional Police reported a number of thefts from around the township Monday morning, noting that a number of them involved expensive, high-performance machines. Here's a run-down of the occurrences: 0 Sometime between Dec. 11 and 15, thieves broke a lock off a shed on Coleman Crescent in the View Lake area and made off with three machines, valued altogether at $36,000. they were a 1994 Polaris XLT, and two '96 Polaris XCRs. Police said tracks led from the garage onto Lake Scugog. 0 Sometime overnight Dec. 16 and 17 thieves broke into a shed at a home on Hwy. 12 in the Saintfield area, and stole a 1996 Polaris worth $12,000. a Thieves also hit overnight Dec. 11 at a Williams Point Rd. address, taking a 1993 Polaris Indy worth $5,000. a The same night, a GMC Sierra pick-up with a 1995 Polaris snow machine was stolen from Major St. in Port Perry. The truck was recovered by police later in the day on Marsh Hill Rd., but the machine had been driven off. a Earlier this month, thieves hit overnight at the Asselstine's dealership south of Blackstock.
