THURSDAY, DECEMBER 28, 1995 Bickmore and Matt Reolfe, all of Nestleton Hardball, were invited to a Toronto Blue Jays train- Ing camp. The Scugog Angels host- ed the provincial fastball championships at the lakefront diamonds. The Peewee Modacks prepared for the league championships. The Junior Merchants hosted the All-Ontario Junior B Softball Champi- onships. The squad won the silver medals. The Peewee ModJacks became the OASA Provin- cial Squirt C Division Champions finishing the championship tourna- ment with a4-1 record. The Causeway Cougars of the Nestleton Hardball League defeated Van Camp Contracting of the Scugog Baseball League to be crowned hardball champs. The final round of the Top Bass Fishing Series was held in Scugog. The Nestleton Mus- tangs won the A division of the Port Perry Ladies Lob Ball league, while the Pink Panthers won the B final. Sixty-one hopefuls turned out for the begin- ning of ModJacks training camp. 1995 - A LOOK BACK - 1995 More than 100 golfers took part in the Rotary Club annual golf tourna- ment. The Gamblers and the Antrim House put in a good showing but were eliminated from the ~ Oshawa City and District Fastball Championship Tourney. Rob Wolters was named the winner of the Andy Avis Memorial Trophy for the Most Outstanding Player of the Nestleton Hardball League. The Causeway Cougars were the Peewee winners in the Nestleton Hardball League while the Cart- wright Youth Council nabbed the Bantam Crown. The Port Perry Star Panthers ladies soccer team were the winners of the league championship. Genevieve Coxon, Kath- leen Farquharson and Amanda Baker of the Un- der 15 Physiotherapy Asg sociates soccer team were chosen to be members of the Durham All team. The Trader Sams Un- der 13 girls soccer team finished second in league Star - play. Pamela Armstrong, 10, of Port Perry won the bronze medal in the Juve- nile Ladies division of the Toyota Oktoberfest skat- ing competition. Cartwright Minor Ball executives donated equip- ment to the Attawapiskat native reserve on James Bay. Members of the Port Perry Figure Skating Club took to the ice in cos- tume to raise funds in a skate-a-thon. Rick Harnden, 19, of Port Perry finished third in pointsin his first year of racing vintage cars in the Choko Legends Racing Se- ries. Cartwright Minor Ball raised $700 through a skate sale. The rink of Pat Mark, Patti Goreski, Jeanne Symes and Joanne Dutka won the Mother Jackson Open Kitchens bonspiel at the Port Perry Curling Club. The Canadian Tire Is- landers won the B champi- onship at the Picton tour- nament. The Pearce Novice Auc- tioneers reached the C fi- nal of the Cobourg tourna- ment. The Port Perry High School junior and midget * girls basketball teams won gold at the LOSSA championships. The Pineridge Sports Midget 1s won the cham- pionship of their home tournament. Compton Cable Novices were the B finalists at the Manvers tournament. The rink of Scott How- ey, Dave Roth, Don Bea- ton and Dennis Symes won the Lake Scugog Lumber cash spiel at the Port Perry Curling Club. The team of Dean Hau- gen, Don Phinney, Doug Russell and John Bardele- ben were the B champi- ons. |
