"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Thursday, December 28, 1995 - 3 ya Ls - SPRY § THAT'S THE SPIRIT: Students at Port Perry High School made a substantial donation to Operation Scugog just before Christmas. During their toy and food drive, held between Dec. 6 and 15, organizers held draws and parties, and sought out donations of cash, Canadian Tire money and new toys at local businesses (Steadman's V&S store was the leading contributor this year). In the De-fer Da-Payments Fer-De-Car Fer-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na- Na-Ninety Days... (Sung to da tune of "Deck da Halls") 1996 SATURN SW1 end, they raised $1,500, and collected "tons" of toys and food. The money was spent on yet more food and toys for distribution to the area's needy. Seen here among the items just before they went to the food bank last Thursday are Amanda Powell (left), Katie Coates, Courtney Williamson, Greg Thompson, and lan McCrady. | yi Plus a large selection of previously owned Saturns! 1996 SATURN SL1 Rogers Cable donates $2,000 to students Thanks to a donation of $2,000 by Rogers Cable System Limited, selected Durham College students will find it a little easier to pay their tuition. The donation was given to the college for President Gary Polonsky to put towards the area most needed, the bursaries and scholarship category seemed most practical. "The generosity of Rogers Cable is greatly appre- ciated," said Betty-Anne Blyth, Financial Aid Officer at Durham College. "Some students need the extra fi- nancial help to complete their education, and now we can reach more of those students." Donating money to Durham College is nothing new for Rogers Cable System. Over the past five years, Rogers has sponsored $7,500 to the Macintosh labs in the school.
