Well, its that time of year again to show off your amazing skills and exquisite form and hopefully have a good time. Tournament will be held at the Water Street dia- Jane and Port Perry Fairgrounds (four diamonds in total). " Registration is $200. per team. Forms are available from Pineridge Sports or by calling Bernice Avis 986- 0653 and Doug Lowe 986-0231. Registration must be received before Feb. 1 to allow time to contact teams , with their playing times. Co Prize structure based on number of teams regis- tered. All proceeds towards Scugog Adult Mixed Slow-Pitch League. The Port Bantams decided ear- ly on they were not going to succumb to the goading tactics that the Hawks usually employ, and played some good old fash- ioned hockey. Trenton took the lead late in the first but Port roared back with two quick goals. Next up, Adam Hobbs finished off a nice pass from his linemate, Captain Derek Tindall which put our boys in front headinginto the second. Port scored two in the first and two more in the third for a convincing 4-0 win. The goalscorers in this game were Troy Campbell, Adam Hobbs, Scott Jeffrey and Brad Johnston. Picking up as- sists were Scott Jeffery, Troy Campbell, Dave Gai- ney, Derek Tindall, Jon Froats, and Casey Vans- chagen. Great "team" ef- fort out there everyone! Ryan Fraser again played another solid game be- tween the pipes for Port. After winning all four of their games, Port had amassed 14 out of a possi- ble 15 points and earned a well-deserved spot in the championship game. In the final, our oppo- nents were none other than the tournament hosts Lindsay, who had eliminated Port from their own home tournament on Dec. 16. Port were up for this game right from the start. After a scoreless first period Port went to work in the second as they took the lead on a goal from Jon Froats assisted from Casey Vanschagen and Dillan Weber. The third was all Port as they showed no mercy for our hosts and scored three goals for a very convincing 4-0 win. Adam Hobbs, Danny Lyons and Casey Vanschagen scored the goals for Port. Assists went to Ian Parliament, Glenn McCready, Troy Campbell and Casey Vanschagen. Mike McClennan played ex- tremely well in goal for Port obtaining the shut- out! We're red, we're white, were dyno-mite" was heard being chanted from the always supportive par- ents and fans as the boys received their awards for winning this tournament. The coaching staff were positively impressed with the efforts from the team as' all the boys put out when on the ice. Way to go Donuts - keep up the good work guys, the play-offs are just around the cor- ner!! Let's make this a sea- son to remember.
