"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" \ PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, January 30, 1996 - 25 -- ---- Port Perry Auto Wreckers vs. Laurentian Bank A close game between these two teams took place. Laurentian started the scoring in the first at 4:51. There was a scramble around the net and Jessie Mischitian shot it in. Assist went to Chris Wygerde. Kellen Jackson of the Wreckers made good saves in the first and a "Johnnie Bower poke check" in the second saved another . The Wreckers tied it 1-1 in the second on a quick shot from Ryan May that went under the stick of Bankers' goalie Tyler Webb. Greg Jeffrey was awarded the assist. Play was in the Wreckers end and a shot came in and Kellen made the save but Robert Scriber of the Bankers got his stick on the puck and scored. Both teams were scoreless in the third period and the game ended 2-1 for the Bankers. A good effort from all the players and we'll see you 'next week for more action in Atom House League Hockey. Bantam IGA vs. Uxbridge The IGA Bantams took on the Uxbridge Not Just Cards in Sunderland and we were hot. Uxbridge was on the power play but we held them scoreless and then they held us of on the power play. Jeremy Pare had a good shot and Chad Lance and Joel Van Camp almost scored on some nice passes in the first but both teams were scoreless. Chris Thompson came up with awesome catches to keep Uxbridge off the scoreboard. - The second was amazing. Uxbridge came up with a goal which Chris Thompson had no chance on. Fourteen seconds later Pete McKitterick scored on a breakaway with his dad encouraging him from the sidelines. Reid McTaggart picked up the assist on Pete's goal. A scramble in front of the net resulted in another goal with Chad Lance poking it in, Ken Ellis and Jeremy assisting. On a pass up from Lawrence Cook and Ken, Pete picked up his second to make it 3-1. Our fourth came on a nice shot from the blue line off Jon Sanders stick. Chad and Murphy Irvine assisted. We weren't done yet. Pete gave the puck to Kam Cooper who passed to Lawrence and he scored: making it 5-1. We picked up two more in the third. Jeremy finally got past the defenceman and scored with a great shot. With Kam and Lawrence assisting, Pete McKitterick picked up his third for his first hat trick. He received a standing ovation from the crowd and his proud dad. Even coach Van Camp threw his' Detroit Red Wing hat on the ice for Pete (he did retrieve it pretty quick though). Pete was awarded Player of the Game for his efforts. . P.S. He now has to eat waffles and syrup before every game. Lawrence Cook had a great game with one goal and three assists and did he ever tie up those Uxbridge forwards. Nick Ostafichuk, Mark Delaney and Steve Martyn did some great work on our defence lines. Larocque Electric zaps Scala Brothers It was a goaltenders battle when Larocque Electric and Scala Brothers clashed. Excellent passing by the Larocque forwards led them to a hard fought 4-3 victory, but were stopped many times by Scala goalie Joan Barton. an assist, J. Schembri, two goals, and A. Kenny. Also with assists were J. Danilko, G. Ingram, J. Rogalski, and A. Lycett. Bulging the mesh for Scala was M. Smart, Jolicouer and G. Thompson. A. Hutchinson and S. Fischer played a great game between the pipes for Larocque. Honorable mention for excellent hustle are G. Thompson (Scala), M. Giannini (Larocque). Coach Milligan appeared to be smiling as he left the arena. Re/Max and Van Camp tie in league play Novice league play resumed Jan. 27 with Re/Max and Van Camp playing to a 3-3 tie. This was an excellent game with strong two way performances, strong offense and splendid defense displayed by both teams. Goaltending was certainly a factor as both Patrick Dunn (Van Camp) and Stewart Medford (Re/Max) played extremely well. David Stewart led the way for Re/Max with a goal and an assist. Re/Max opened the scoring in the first when Brent Meeking jammed home a rebound in a goal-mouth scramble, assisted by Stewart. Van Camp scored three unanswered goals to finish off the first . Brad Layzell tied the game, unassisted. One minute later Shawn McNamara put Van Camp in the lead with a nice wrap-around from behind the net, assisted by Matt Morrison. Just before the period ended Michael Aldred scored unassisted. Re/Max kept chipping away with a goal in the second and their third was scored in the third to tie it. Scoring in the second for Re/Max was Norman Rooney, assist going to James Hobbs. David Stewart scored unassisted in the third to tie it. Other players playing well were Kyle Bowers, Tim Gibson, Josh Page, Haydon Fish for Re/Max, and Darren Black, Kale Thompson, Ken Britt and Thomas Cosgrove for Van Camp. Peewee House League Emiels 5 - Big V 5 There was end to end action with the Peewee teams of Emiels and Big V. Big V started off taking the lead with three in the first by Derek Ellicott, T. J. Robbins and Ryan Haslam. Assists went to T. J. Robbins, Ryan Haslam, Ian Bonser and Eric Bird. Great defensive play by Jessie Bennett and Matt Vaughan kept Emiels off the board. In the second Emiels came back and put three on the board. With great team play, Joshua Griffen, Michael Blakey, Sean Williams, Joshua Griffen, and Gerrard Timmers, Big V held the lead with a goal by Mike Dalby, assisted by Ryan Haslam and Jason Howarth. The third showed a lot of spirit by Emiels. Big V opened the period with a goal by Derek Ellicott, assisted by Don Campbell which put Big V up 5-3, but Emiels never quit. With great team play and excellent goaltending by Shawn Martin, Emiels managed to close the gap with two only eight seconds apart. Michael Blakey scored first on a breakaway and Cameron Vernest scored on a great play assisted by Gerrard Timmers to tie it. Good teamwork in the third by Kevin Moore, and defensive work by Ian Gaudet, Brian Harris, and Mark Richardson supported Emiels comeback. Good work guys! - After practices Friday in Little Britain for all teams, the Peewees will be ready for more action on Feb. 3.
