The organization, which is holding its annu- al fundraiser "Bowl For Millions" later this month, is seeking six volunteers to sit on its board of direc- tors. Volunteers to help with fundraising, Bowl For Millions and financial matters are needed. Board members are only asked to donate two hours of their time per month. Patti Goreski, executive director of the organiza- tion, said they are looking for new blood on the board to keep newideas flowing. The organization, which fits children from single-family homes with men and women for a few hours a week, is in desper- ate need of Big Brothers. There are currently 22 littles waiting for Big Brothers in the Scugog, Uxbridge and Brock are- as. To be a Big Brother you must be 18 years of age or older, and be willing to vol- unteer three to four hours a week for a one-year peri- od. "Whether it's to play sports, be a friend or offer guidance to these young boys and help them with peer pressure," Mrs. Gore- ski said. : Thereis ascreening pro- cess with all potential Big Brothers, but it is by no means time consuming or Invasive, she said. "It's not a huge commit- ment, only a few hours a week," she said. The organization would like its biggest fundraiser "Bowl For Millions" to be its only fundraiser of the year, but to do so more funds have to be raised from the event. The ideal amount would be $40,000, which would cover all office expenses. Last year the bowling day raised $15,000. Bowlers can round up pledges and bowl on their own time, in their leagues or on celebrity day at ei- ther Centennial Lanes in Port Perry orin Uxbridge. Celebrity day featuring politicians, businessmen and service groups will be held February 10 in Ux- bridge and February 17 in Port Perry. Lance Brown, of CFTO news, will be on hand at 1 p.m. at Centen- nial Lanes. Also as an additional . fundraiser this year the organization has Nevada tickets on sale at thre An- trim House with proceeds going to Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Anyone who can volun- teer their time to the or- ganization or for more in- formation is asked to call Patti Goreski at 985-3733. For information on Bowl For Millions call Dawn Young at 985-0585. The woman took down the vehicle's licence number and gave it to police, who found through a check that it had been stolen.
