4- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, February 6, 1996 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Police say sled parts found at home are stolen By Jeff Mitchell Port Perry Star Durham Regional Police officers acting on a tip say they have uncov- ered as much as $60,000 worth of stolen snowmo- bile, auto and boat parts at a home on Scugog Island. A search warrant was executed just before 4 p.m. Thursday (Feb.1) at a Fralick's Beach home, where officers from 26 Division in Port Perry, along with detectives trom 25 Division, found numer- ous snowmobile parts, boat engines and parts, and stolen tools in the . basement. A man arrested in con- nection with the parts made news headlines locally in late October when he was shot by unknown assailants near the same home. That shooting remains unsolved. Sgt. Another home in Caesarea was searched, but stolen property was found only at the Scugog Island home, he said. Friday police had a dis- play of some of the parts, including entire engines and stripped -down snow- mobiles chassis, on dis- play at their garage on Old Simcoe Rd. in Port Perry. "There's upwards of $60,000 in snowmobile parts, outboard parts, and stolen tools," Sgt. Hudson said. He added an investi- gation is continuing. Charged with four counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, and a single count of possession of stolen property over $5,000, is Michael McCourt, 27, of Fralick's Beach.
