The local group of ma- ture students is currently preparing plans for a July 1 event, which will see a parade leave from the Port Perry Fairgrounds and travel along Simcoe and Queen Streets to the lake. The daytime parade won't be the end of the event for the internship group. A night-time boat parade, at a cost of $5 per boat, is planned to travel the waterfront area prior to the fireworks display in Palmer Park. The Youth Internship Program is a new program for mature students at Port Perry High School de- signed to equip those en- rolled with the employa- bility skills they will need to make the transition from high school to work. The program is federal- ly funded, designed and proposed by staff at the lo- cal high school, is open to anyone between the ages of 17 and 24 who is classed as a graduate or a drop- out.
