Musicians offering all types of music are being sought to provide between a half hour and an hour of material for the May 26 event. Currently there are classic rock bands, rock bands, classical guitarists and folk bands lined up for the event. There will be an admission cost for visitors to the museum as it 1s a fundraising event. Musicians arz asked to volunteer their time and talents to the event. Jacqueline, a co-op student from Durham College is organizing the event and will be performing in the festival. The Water St. office will see the services it can pro- vide curtailed, but w.il continue to provide a num- ber of services, said Marg White, who works there. But the office is now without its computer link, so drivers will have to bring any needed docu- mentation with them to have transactions or changes made. "We're going to be able to do sgme things; there's a limited amount of things we can do," she said. Come in and join us for our anniversary special! 13 Anew filming bylaw could see crews pay up to $1,250 a day for localtion work here By Kelly Lown Port Perry Star A draft of a filming poli- cy will see movie and tele- vision crews paying up to $1,250 a day to film in Scu- gog. In recent years Port Perry has become a popu- lar site for television and movie crews, often caus- ing many problems with downtown businesses, who believe the intrusion interferes with business. The draft policy in- cludes a fee of $500 a day for documentaries, up to $1,250 a day for feature films. The policy also sug- gests a compensation fee of $100 per day to busi- nesses within 100 feet of the filminglocation. The policy, which con- trols filming on public property, roads, streets and in parks, has a num- ber of other provisions. Other regulationsin the draft state crews must clean up after themselves, are to use off-duty police officers for traffic and crowd control, to supply a map of shooting locations and times and to restrict lighting whenever possi- ble as not to interfere with neighboring residences and traffic. Film crews would also be restricted to hours. of filming, with no- shooting permitted between the hoursof 11 p.m.and 7 a.m. Norm Leigh, of Durham Region's Economic De- partment, was on hand at the township planning meeting last week, to offer some advice to the local council. He suggested, among other things, that the township insist on being listed in the movie's cred- its, that flim makers post a bond to cover any dam- age and the township re- quest that the crew, when- ever possible, use local businesses for supplies and accommodations. Scugog Township's eco- nomic development com- mittee will review . the draft agreement before it 1s passed by council.
