"A Family Tradition for 128 Years " PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, March 19, 1996 -17 R > PORT PERRY STAR URAL IRooTs Five quilts to be tied on March 19 Blackstock by 5 What beautiful weather that we have been enjoying this past week. Is this a sign that spring 1s on its' way? After all the snow and ice, maybe the croci will be making an appearance in a gar- den near you soon. Afternoon Unit - Blackstock U.C.W.-Dora Martyn Nine members and three guests met at the church for a dessert luncheon with a St. Pa- tric's Day theme, featuring Irish soda bread. Jean Churchill opened the meeting with a poem, then from her Easter basket produced wise sayings which she had each member read. Roll call was answered by naming a type of- work done by the wind. Dora had the worship pro-- gram with a scripture reading from John 3: 16, 17, telling of God's sacrifice of his son. We sang the hymn, "When I survey the wondrous cross". Jean Fer- guson introduced Liz Hender- son who spoke to us on safety in the home and pointed out that the most hazardous room in the house is the bedroom. A petition was circulated re- garding land mines in the war- ring countries which causes so much death and destruction. Quilts, all five of them, have been pieced and are ready to be tied or quilted. The date for this is Tuesday, March 19 at 1 p.m. The meeting closed with a benediction sung to the tune of "Edelweiss". Dora Martyn .
