Bobbie Drew said last week that 126, likely wouldn't have been on the block even if a policy to consolidate smaller schools have been employed by the board last week. "I would really like to put this to rest, because it's dead in the water," she said. ; At a heavily attended meeting last . Monday night, trustees voted to send the long-standing policy back to staff for review. The policy, last used in 1984, calls for closure of schools with student populations under 200. " But there are cost factors that must also be considered before a a school could be closed under the exist- A ing policy, said Mrs. Drew. That means that even without policy revisions, Epsom would likely continue to oper- ate. "I feel that even if it did go to a school closure committee Epsom P.S. could have survived that process," Mrs. Drew said after last Monday's meeting. "The costs and savings (of a closure and amalgamation with Greenbank P.S.) weren't as significant as some of the others" identified for review under the policy. : "And if it ever comes to that, I think it can survive the process," the Turnto Page 3 the tiny school, with an enrollment of So Havin' a ball The Junior Girls' basketball team at S.A.Cawker P.S. in Port Perry is enjoying a great season.
