Both Victoria and Josephine Streets will be extended to meet Simcoe St., those in attendance heard. Georgieff, M.C.I.P., R.P.P. Commissioner of Planning it scaled down. Some at the council chambers Monday night said they moved to an the area to get away from large row housing units. Mr. Dyment told the audience the township's main objective in the plan is to make the develop- ment compact, with logi- cal road patterns, and to meet all the requirements of the Official Plan. The development, which would house some 2,000 people, would see a new elementary school, open space for parks, a soccer pitch and ball dia- monds. A proposed commercial area, consisting of some 25,000 square feet, slated for the Victoria and King 'St. area, was put on hold by council earlier this month until a commercial study is done. A small commercial area has been designated for this area at the corner of Simcoe and King Streets for a gas station and convenience store. Mr. Dyment pointed out that even with the more than 600 homes and the commercial designa- tion, there are still some 22 acres of open space in the area, to break up the rows of homes. The sewage and water system in the Port Perry/Prince Albert area can service up to 10,000 people and the develop- ment of this project would bring the total population of the area up to 9,000, said the planner. A third area, proposed for future development, would see homes for an additional 1,000 people built. Councillors noted that this is the only serviceable area left in the area, stat- ing that if development is to occur, it will have to occur there. Mr. Dyment assured those in attendance that nothing is carved in stone, and encouraged neighbors to make their concerns known in letters to the municipality.
